You must suffer from some serious mental issues to go from hockey talk to jumping off bridges.
Why are you even here if your such a miserable person? You can go back to crying in a corner at any time - mauryballstein
now little fellah, I am not the drama queen in this fight... as I have pointed out, the world has not ended because we didn't move Hamhuis or Vrbata, even when you posted, Hamhuis had to be moved...
breathe...
The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow. |

I agree that life goes on. After all, it's just a game.
However, Benning blew it this past week. |

and the players who filled our rafters with five Stanley Cup banners. - ReveenV2
Inherited from the WHA n never were an expansion team.
Once they all were traded or retired zilch nada since.
Still can manage 4 top overall with another good shot.
I wonder what its like if we could win our 1st ever overall? |

Had he made a good trade Makita would not have been distracted by trolls.
Does that work? - golfingsince
trolls would have been here anyways to tell us the return was bad etc., laugh about the prospects we'd land. |

You clearly are the drama queen in this one also a drag queen too one would imagine with the kind of mental problems you have displayed here today. |

Yandle-too old and not good at his job (defending)
Coburn-(see Yandle)
Johnson- which one, and either way not available.
Goligoski- 30
Grossman-
Liles
Seabrook- so unavailable it is not even worth talking about. Also too old!
Were not one year away were 2-3 minimum, taking in 30 year olds is counter productive. we want to ship out the 30 year olds. - neem55
These guys are all D UFA's (unless they've already resigned and I didn't notice). I think if you objectively look at the team from their hay-day to now you see two big problems: faceoffs and D.
The D just keeps getting worse and worse...and the loss of good defensive forward face off men has meant that we've been getting destroyed on defensive zone starts...it's also been getting worse.
I think we can be a playoff team next year with more centres and better D...and I happen to think that a young team that gets into the show (and a winning culture overall) is one of the best ways to get better over time.

That 1979 and 1980 draft pretty much surpasses our entire drafting history. |

Player's with NTC's...
Not an ideal situation to begin with.. maybe TL will slip up with some details later, like what happened with Higgins and that summer summit/season ticket holder event. |

They drafted Coffey, Fuhr and Kurri as an NHL franchise. Just saying.

I refuse to give the media in this town much credit. This is more of a speculation site than a rumour site. and Vancouver media isn't much different. They are so quick to jump to conclusions and want a nice story more than reality. - hillbillydeluxe
So true everything is pure speculation, even watching the talking heads on TSN today could only speculate. Next thing you know it's being quoted by the best armchair gm's in HB, as gospel so it has to be true |

|
Totally disagree with your assessment, although I'm not that surprised - Makita
Curious - how do you think this team gets better...other than hopefully drafting well? |

Yes they had NTC's, but he turned down decent deals according to multiple sources.
I mean Luongo had a 1 team list and Gillis still got two assets for him. |

Seabrook signed an extension. We have a fundamental disagreement, the same one as I have with many posters on here, IMO we need 2 top-5 picks to anchor the core and be a legit contender long-term. |

No Moose, anderson and Lowe were WHA players, not that I think it matters much.
edit: only moose, actually my bad. |

Don't be so arrogant, no one is suggesting the end of the world or that Benning has ruined all future chances of success. People are suggesting he is making mistakes.
The only ones turning this into a crisis is the ones who are hell bent on seeing this as another positive step in the rebuild.
It isn't, today accomplished nothing, end of story. You can argue either side about what they should of done or couldn't of done or will do or whatever but at the end of the day Beninng wasn't able to do anything today and there is no way to spin that positively. |

Hmmmm. Why?
First of all - There's no guarantee that those top-5ers pan out...I'm sure I don't need to strut out Edmonton or most of the other teams who have bottomed out this decade...why do you think 2 players are going to be the cure-all?
Second - What about teams that have done well without top picks?
Third - I don't think any team has relied on solely that - is there one? The hawks did well with Toews/Kane, but they've also had two stud D, solid goaltending and very good bit players...they've also been very good with selling high on some assets...though not perfect. |

I don't like what happened just like anybody else here today, but when Hamhuis waffled on the Chicago trade they moved on. To me this falls on Hammer.
If other GM's were completely low balling at the last minute think about the crying we would be dealing with anyway.
I agree something is better than nothing, but there is something to be said for standing firm for what is fair. Once other GM's feel like they can eph you... They will stick it in your eye socket just for the sport of it. |

Moose played WHA as an underaged player and was released. He was selected 48th overall in the 1979 NHL entry draft. |
