3rd rounder for Schultz.

Not that he is going to be paired with Letang but maybe he can help out Jultz with his game...pretty low risk for the Pens tho if he doesnt play like they want him to then he is gone after the season anyways - RatedR80
A 3rd round pick is a steep price to gamble on Schultz. To retain him they'll have to qualify him and that's a hefty cap hit. |

Its only a steep price if that 3rd rounder turns out to be something decent so time will tell there.....if they are to qualify him then he must have done well enough in their eyes to get it and if he doesnt do well they can walk away after the season...hard to say one way or the other but I agree with you when you said the Oilers did well today...lets hope they can turn those picks into something good for a change...tired of our non stop bottom of the league run |

It'll be interesting to see how Schultz performs on a good team. Im sure the result wont be that much different but if they can turn him into a decent 2nd pairing dman, itll be a really good deal. It's worth the risk for the Pens, they have the players to shelter him a bit and build up his confidence. |

Somebody owes chia a bj. Had himself a pretty good day. - dr_soiledpants a 3rd for schultz is pretty deece. As is getting a 5th back for Nilsson I guess.
But these moves don't warrant anything more than an over the jeans Handski.
I'll ease off on the hardcore sexual favours until he puts a roster together that's at least in a hunt for a playoff spot.
He's done nothing extraordinarily better than mact up to this point. Gryba was a pretty solid move I guess |

Its a good situation for him to be in....he can play less minutes and learn from Letang and others which he didnt have in Edmonton plus he can win some games and possibly even get to be in the playoffs...pretty solid trade off from where he was

Add Sekera and Talbot to that list as well......I wont hold my breath on his ability to make the roster in the hunt for the playoffs.....guess we will see what happens in the off season

Agreed on both. You know I'm a fan of both.
But I didn't really include them as I don't believe sekera signs in edm without Connor being there.
And there was only like 3 realistic goalie options. Chiarelli got one of em
I ain't hatin by any stretch. And I'm far from even willing to call the reinhart deal a bust yet. But to get us locked into letestu, korpikoski wasn't great .
Overall a few bad moves, a few good ones, and a few fairly standard ones
This summer is big for him and our franchise |

And if the Oilers turn it around and become good I wont be one of the ones to forget the part MacT played in the process

Really ?
How do u mean?
Just for argument sake; Ima guess that mact also had his hands all over the reinhart deal. We know Craig and our organization coveted him for awhile. And playing for the oil kings - mact probably had abit more first hand knowledge than pc did.
As I said, not willing to call that a loss for awhile yet, but can't say I'm super encouraged at this point
All Just a guesswork in terms of pulled the strings tho |

I agree on everything you said esp this summer being huge for this franchise.....pressure is gonna be on Pete to do something because this team cannot afford to suck anymore...they cant....this has been too long and too brutal of a process already...I cant see Connor being happy about losing year in and year out as its something he isnt used to...how much more do Hall and Ebs have to endure? (not throwing Nuge in there because I dont think he will be here next year)

Well said
I'm actually surprised none of them (namely hall) have asked to be dealt
I don't wanna stroke halls character too much as the guy gets paid 6 fukin million to play hockey, but I do think it says something about him that he hasn't bolted for the door. But anymore of this and him and Connor are probably ex oilers in the not too distant future
Make it happen Pete |

He's more important to the team than most give him credit for. The team hasn't won jack poop since he went down, and Draisaitl has come way back down to earth, and suddenly he isn't a lock as a proven NHL centerman any more, like some people referred to him while he had a hot streak, and less than 80 games under his belt. |

There's a ton of truth to all of this
I was firmly on the trade nuge bandwagon for a few reasons. (Return-ebs pure snipe-no one else on the right side etc)
But Now I'm really unsure
Not saying I've changed my mind as one of ems gotta go, but we've looked markedly worse without nuge. And that's saying a lot as we were pretty bad with him
The first should absolutely be dealt imo
And at least one of nuge/hall/ebs.
Not sure who though. I've changed my mind a bunch of times |

You can see it on the ice with Hall sometimes that he isnt too happy but yes to his credit he hasnt demanded to be traded (yet) I just hope these guys can start winning for their own sake and confidence

I said it before and ill say it again....I do not hate Nuge...I think Nuge is a pretty solid player and is our best two way player...with that being said Nuge is also our best trade bait at this point to getting a much needed top pairing D man.....if our defence was solid I wouldnt speak of trading Nuge...its not a dislike thing its a need thing...im well aware we sucked without him but guess what? we have sucked with him too...again not Nuge hating its just looking at it from a different perspective
