I disagree with Tanner. Boedker will get more. If its as simple as a 3rd and a C prospect, it might give me pause for a second. I still don't see how an extension can be hammered out, even for 4.2 (he will command more). There is virtually nothing coming off the books as far as UFAs and I don't see the cap going up much to allow us to sign him. Thank the value of the Canadian dollar.

i agree here. i'd be shocked if boedker, flaws and all, doesnt get more than that. I'd be even more shocked if he signs a deal at 4 and change. think his deal will start with 5. which the pens realistically can't do.

I don't think so. Flower's rebound control has been on point this season and he hasn't been sniped too often. Murray's biggest flaw while he was up was rebound control.

His biggest problem was communication with his D in general I think. He was bad at stopping, leaving, passing, clearing pucks behind the net and the rebound control is probably part of not knowing where to put the puck in what situations. His puck stopping ability is already at NHL starter level though. He needs to practice and play with NHL players to take the next step I think.

I could have gotten down with Kunitz for Dano. Play Dano in top 6 and just take your first or second round playoff loss and add a young top 9 forward.

Ladd seems silly expensive, but I do think Blackhawks are primed to win it this year. Stat line on Ladd is 17 goals 17 assists, kunitz 11 goals 17 assists (though Kunitz plays with crosby).

Prices seem silly this year I hope we buy nothing. 3rd round for 8th defenseman. Nearly NHL ready top 9 forward prospect who showed goal scoring ability at 20 years old and a 1st round pick for a top 6 LW whose putting up like 25 goals and not many assists.

Maybe we should just sell and stock up for next year.

If you're only bringing up points, you don't understand why Ladd is so valuable.

What's funny is Shero was good at trades only, his drafting suck as and ability to get ufas to come play with Sid and Geno sucked. While Ruth sucks at trades (he's 50-50 on deals imo) but his ability to get better ufas here and drafting is great...


Out of all those high priced rentals the pens got, Duper is the only one who stayed and he was a throw in! That is why I kind of want to stay away from UFA rentals. Yet I want Boedker and versteeg lol

Shero wasn't that bad at drafting, he wasn't good either but he had a few strong years like 2012(Pouliot, Maatta, Bluegers, Sundqvist, Murray, Maquire, Seymour, Zlobin.) Zlobin is not happening but the rest have played in the NHL or have a decent shot to. Maquire should be graduating this year along with Bluegers and will be in WBS next year. Seymour is a 50/ 50 guy who needs to improve in a lot of areas but has gotten better every year since being drafted.

PA can be had for super cheap especially because Toronto helping us essentially helps them get a 1st round pick. I'd be surprised if he costs us a 2nd with the 1st rounder implications from the kessel trade.

I honestly think the first Domino is Boedker to Chicago. I think that's Chicago's #1 target. I think Peg is holding out waiting on that deal to fall through to see if Chicago circles back around to Ladd. Cus it seems like Peg already has a couple of overpayments lined up for Ladd and it perplexes me they haven't taken the money and ran yet

On Pouliot - People who say he hasn't lived up to his draft spot and is a bust are idiots. Shero reached on Pouliot. He's not a bust because he's developing fine for a guy who was probably more of a 13-20 draft pick. He's not a stud at 21, but he's showing some good characteristics. At his age and what most evaluators thought of him going into the draft (Besides Shero) being a 3rd offensive dman with very good possession stats, but some defensive lapses is perfectly fine. He's better than Depres at his age or Joe Morrow or probably even goligoski. He has plenty of time to get the defensive miscues out of his system and be a solid 2nd pairing guy at 23 who creates offensive and drives possession.

He's developing right inline with what you want out of a mid 1st round pick. Yes we should have taken forsberg, but that is on shero not pouliot.
