Haha wouldn't that be some poop... Pens miss playoffs and retain their 1st and then trade maf to edm for their 1st and we could get a highly skilled forward...then Murray starts his career as a starter next season - nh4442
what you just wrote is EXACTLY what I wrote back when murray had to fill in for fleury being out. |

I'm honestly surprised at how much value Dregger is under the impression Murray has. To us, sure. Immense value to us, but goalies are so under valued on the market, let alone goalie prospects - Victoro311
Well, he is the top goalie prospect... If Tampa didn't have Vasilevskiy I would offer Murray for Drouin and see what they say. |

EDM would probably do that if PIT included Letang. In which case PIT might as well trade 87/71/81 too. - jfkst1
Idk edm has needed a goalie for a long long time. They have great forward depth. Maybe we throw in Bennett or one of the young wbs guys to sweeten pot plus a 2nd... |

Not if that 1st was Matthews.
EDIT: never mind. Didn't see the tidbit about Letang - Victoro311
I don't think they are gonna pick auston matthews. they need defensemen REALLY REALLY bad. they already have like the most dangerous forwards in the league on the same team in hall,mc david and draisaitel and ryan nugent hopkins. they are sooooooooo damn good at forward that the only way I see them get auston matthews is if they trade nugent hopkins and next years 1st and a 2nd for a really good defensemen but I think they need even more defensemen. also they need a good goalie. sry I mean GREAT goalie. |

They just traded for Talbot and re-signed him. You think they are gonna trade for another goalie They need defense. Especially RHD. |

Haha
We all know fleury is out the door soon. The key for next yr is to try to do a 60-40 split in games between the two, think that would the best option rather than a 80-20split of games |

They're not going to trade potential Austin Matthews for Fleury. And how about that Scando Martox is always talking about. He seems like another instant contributer type prospect. If Edmonton falls in the top two there's a really good chance they get one of those guys. |

Doesn't matter. Matthews is a can't miss prospect. McDavid and Matthews on the same team is the second coming of Crosby and Malkin. If Ementon gets Matthews they move Draisaitl to RW and trade two of RNH, Eberle, and Yakupov for defensive help. Simple as that. |

I know he is. which is why I think they will trade nugent hopkins. but they need more defensemen than just 1. but getting a top 4 def shouldn't be that hard for them though also it is not IF it is when. cuz they are sure fire to get the 1st overall since they are edmonton |

MAF has an 18 team list of teams he can be traded to. I'll bet anything he doesn't want to go to a Canadian sh!thole market. |

Remember when Trevor Daley wasn't worth pursuing because of his "advanced" stats?
Kris Russell isn't a perfect pickup. He's not ideal. But if he were to be affordable, I'd jump all over it, as it's hard to find a better fit among defensemen that the Penguins have the cap room and the assets to acquire.
Any Corsi-based number used to judge Russell is going to be heavily skewed, as he's a shot blocker, one of the best in the league. He's going to sit back and be prone to perimeter shots. These guys always have bad Corsi numbers, but can still be plenty useful. He's tiny, but he's courageous and willing to mix it up with anyone.
He's fast, he's a deft passer, he's got a decent shot. He's got PP experience.
They could do a lot worse. |

I have no problem with getting kris russel or justin schultz since you can never really know if they will play really good or bad HERE. it is just the chances and cost (even though the cost should be small) that I am afraid of.

Trevor Daley isn't worth pursuing unless Rob Scuderi is the one getting traded for him. That's why most are fine with Daley. If Despres were traded for Daley everyone would hate Daley even more than they do Lovejoy.
Russell isn't going to be cheap to acquire. He'll be a 2nd rounder at least. |

Advanced stats guys actually loved Daley. Well loved is an overstatement they loved him compare to scuderi. They liked his possession numbers a ton. I think they thought he was mis-used at a top 4 guy but would be fine in a 3rd pairing. |

Fleury + Letang for Mathews would be a pretty good deal for Edmonton (not sure if they can handle the cap hit). But honestly would do nothing for our team as we would have 3 #1 centers and lack a #1 D.
Fleury for Mathews would be a joke. Not even sure if Fleury + 2017 1st + Maata + Sprong would be enough.l |

I do like hearing that Murray could be traded in 60 seconds. Its nice to know that in a pressure situation Rutherford could have a brain cramp and trade Murray for Grabner. |

Probably a replay of his interview from this morning, which is where the Murray comments came from. |
