he is 32 at 4 mil. I honestly why you want to trade flower so bad IF murray proves himself and it proves there will be no loss between him and flower then you can trade flower. but I think it will be a year or two before murray can take flowers starts. I belive in murray BUT he has to prove himself first in the nhl before I choose to trade flower cuz it could have catastropic consequenses if murray can't handle it.

It's not that I want to trade Flower so bad, just that I see an opportunity there to explore! I looked at Gio's contract it's 6 years 40m - not sure I want the back end of that?? He's also injured a fair bit, but he's a top pair D that scores points - just what we need. He's also a leader that can help this team. So I think he would be a great fit.

Just think they can all grow old together!

So what do the Canes & Leafs have in common??

Pens had 2 scouts I believe watching their game............

Now what D does each team have that is on the trade block? After all JR saying he wants to sure up our D now, seeing the AHLers have sunk their teeth in & taken a bite of the NHL buttocks!!

Or, is there a hockey trade out there.............

The plot thickens as the soup is stirred!

We have tougher opponents than those teams. The Metro is a hate market, Chicago and St Louis had a few battles but other than that there wasnt really the type of emotion that we have to deal with in the playoffs.
These high hate games always work in our opponents favour because it always regresses into cheap shots on Sid and Geno being let go, which gets them throwing cheap shots because nothing is being called and their games goes to hell.

Its a tactic that has worked against us time and time again, and call it whining all you want but the refs allowing the series to devolve into the cheap shot bullsh!t hockey has ruined alot of our chances.

- stackthepads

Dealing with that stuff is part of the job and should be a team thing, not just a sid a geno thing.

Not sure of the contract lengths or $, but how about Giordano for Flower after Murray proves himself (next game ), picks to even up the value which I think maybe with Flower? So Giordano + for Flower?
- Aussiepenguin

Giordano has an expensive cap hit and is going to suck by the end of his cap hit. The absolute soonest Murray can prove himself is two seasons from now.

edit: he also plays the left side. He's a great player but not what this team needs and trading Fleury at this juncture equals giving up on the season

I agree with your time frame. But I would consider rolling the dice after the 2017 season if the team isn't a cup competitor that year. If the team has a major hole that needs filled and Murray gives us 30/35 solid games in 2016/2017 then I might make the move to add a piece and hope Murray is an above average goalie come playoff time.

Maybe. Maybe Murray comes in and plays well for cheap too. That happens all the time with goalies. He is very young and it would be an unwise risk.

I wouldn't trade Flower this season, but I would certainly throw Murray in & as long as he's ok share the load for a month or so. Give Flower a rest then bring him back full swing a few weeks before playoffs if we get there - unless of course Murray is playing unbelievable then (frank)ing trade him!

A player like Giordano is what would really push this team in so many ways. He shoots left but can he play right?

These games coming up will mostly all be high pressure games. So playing him now will show us a little more than if he's just playing a back to back that everyone will just say oh well (frank) it the boys were tired. I'm quite excited to see how he progresses & to see if he's improved any from last little stint.

Just wondering on what everyone thinks about Dano now? Been traded by 2 organisations - is he a bust?

Someone tweeted last night that Dano shouldn't be down on himself that he has been traded twice that he should feel good that other teams want him.

Even tho it does seem like he is a throw in on every deal

Wait our Bennett or there's? Haha

If that many teams are interested pens should be able to get more. Also, it should frighten maf that so many teams are calling about Murray, bc that means maf is soon to be done in say 2-3 yrs...

It just seems most or a lot on here think that if a player has been traded a few times he's a bust. Can't see how anyone can call a rookie a bust??

Haha wouldn't that be some poop... Pens miss playoffs and retain their 1st and then trade maf to edm for their 1st and we could get a highly skilled forward...then Murray starts his career as a starter next season

EDM would probably do that if PIT included Letang. In which case PIT might as well trade 87/71/81 too.

I'm honestly surprised at how much value Dregger is under the impression Murray has. To us, sure. Immense value to us, but goalies are so under valued on the market, let alone goalie prospects

Not if that 1st was Matthews.

EDIT: never mind. Didn't see the tidbit about Letang
