I think they are poised for a cup run and it wouldn't surprise me if they lost a D or he plays better than someone else. It makes a lot more sense that the two seconds that the Leafs got for depth forwards.

But does he want to play here more than he wants to play in Tampa or Toronto? That's the real question.

Stamkos is a BAD fit here. Who goes to the wings?

4 goals in the past 4 games. Put him on a line that doesn't score . Pick one.

From an article on Yahoo, regarding Hartnell and possible trade:

He’s 33 years old and has 19 goals and 20 assists in 58 games. He’s signed through 2019 at $4.75 million against the cap and has a full no-move.

If he waves his no-move though to be traded now, does that mean it's voided and whoever gets him has no such restriction?

Good problem to have.

If Weber gets a 3rd what does Ugwand get? Gotta think a 2nd. He would be more valuable to a club.

Washington is going all in. And they should.

It just seems like a odd deal for them.

ROR, Eichel, Reinhart.

They all switch throughout the game/week.

They traded a 3rd for him... I think they plan on plugging him in as a bottom pairing guy

I didn't say it was likely. At this point I think Franson could handle Orpik in a foot race.

O'reilly is a 1c
Stamkos is a 1c
Eichel (at the moment) is a 2c

None of those guys should be on the wing and none of those guys should be a 3c getting 12-14 minutes per game.

Washington is over the cap, they will need to make a move once Beagel comes back.

I assume Weber was the cheapest option they could find.

- ImThatGuy

It was reported that they got a 3rd because they retained celery.

IMO that leans towards they wanted either way.

Washington is also at the 50 contract max, so they will make other moves.

Many times the team acquiring a player wth a NMC/NTC agrees to keep such clauses in place as a way to get a player to accept the trade.

If memory serves me in the CBA it states a team acquiring a player with such clauses are not bound by said clauses post trade.

That's my point with possibly trading oreilly (if we get Stamkos). ROR needs to play center, and you can't pay him 7.5 million dollars to be the 3rd line center.

Leafs trading pending contracts?? Sorry, remind me again when your leading scorer of 6 seasons and your top D man's contracts expire? By my count Phaneuf and Kessel had YEARS left on their deals. And Buffalo traded Vanek, Miller, Ott, Stafford all on expiring contracts. Traded Pommer with 1 year left. Traded 2 goalies who were both on expiring contracts AND are backups in their new teams no matter how well they play. Myers was underperforming in Buffalo. But Buffalo was tanking by taking the age old "Sellers" route we hear all about year after year. No problem with what Leafs are doing. But if Buffalo was a tank job, so are Leafs. I just hate ppl like Dave Hodge and others in media who make it sound SOOOOO different. Its pathetic

The #Pens have signed Olli Maatta to a six-year contract extension with an AAV of $4.083M.

Good for Risto
