Isn't that why he's unhappy with Cooper ? Sticking him on the wing when he prefers playing C
- Pegullaville

his minutes cut down, he was playing 2 more minutes a night before cooper came
lack of contract

that, from what I hear is his biggest beef with tampa

he loves it down there for non hockey

The reports I see is that he doesn't care that he's on the wing he just wants to to be the best player ever or something like that... and with Jack speed you have to put him a center him passing to Stamkos would be beautiful magic
- gerbe75pts

I really don't think eichel, stamkos or ror care if they are a center or a wing if their team raised the cup

I also think the "I wanna play center" stuff is overblown
He hasn't once publicly said anything about it

Plus...
Playing on the wing with Filppula or Namestnakov as your center isn't quite the same as playing with Jack

It's fun to debate,
But I'm really not all that worried about how it would all fit together

I don't think he's got the value to get a good return
I'd bet he's still here next year

Buff39, Coller, Lebrun, guy on sportsnet whose name escapes me have all dropped his name as trade bait over the past month or so.

Value may be too low for a deadline day deal but I think he's gone by next year.

I like him but 30 mil over 3-5 years to 36 year old is ridiculous.

I can see why his name gets mentioned
But if I were an opposing GM, I'm not giving Murray anywhere close to what his value should be
That's why I think Ennis "probably" won't be moved

If he had another 20goal season this year, then sure

It just wouldn't make sense for Murray to sell low,
On Ennis or Girgensons

Up to 3 players salaries can be retained at a time, 50% maximum for each contract, a teams salary cap can't be consumed by more than 15% from retained salaries, player that salary is retained for cannot be reacquired for a year (except if their contract expires).
- Djtyczy

I think people are getting the compliance buyouts mixed up with the retain salaries.

If Stamkos signs here, ROR is gone by the time Jack's ELC is up. No way they're going to/can afford to have ROR at 7.5 on the wing or 3rd line center and theres no way Jack is gonna be out of the top 6. ROR could fetch the top pairing dman we need, as tough as it sounds to give him up. IF stamkos comes, can't afford him, ROR, Jack, Sam, Kane all making over 6 million. Not to mention risto's deal this offseason.
- Djtyczy

O'Reilly stays, Kane is gone when is contract up, thats if we sign Stamkos, which is a huge if....

When is Cody McCormick going to retire he should just hang it up
- gerbe75pts

We went over this a few weeks ago.

Pay attention this time.

He's getting paid $2.5 million dollars total this year and next to not play because of the blot clots. He gets $1.5 this year. Would you give up $1.5 million when you literally have to do nothing? Of course not, that would be stupid. He could retire after this season, but why would he when he doesn't have to do anything for another million dollars?

The one thing that would worry me, which I know this most likely will not come to fruition, but Stamkos, Eichel and Kane are all very similar type of players. I would be worried they they are going to try and put 2 of the 3, or even all 3 on the same line. When in reality, it would be best to have them separated throughout the top 9.

You're looking at the wrong ones. He's said over and over he prefers to play center, but obviously will play where the coach wants him to. He cares a lot. Picture this with "he" instead of "we" and you'll get how much he wants to play center:

Bylsma like to "pair guys" up
Seems like he likes O'Reilly & Reinhart together, but Kane has also looked good on that line too... So that might be all set

Could he try Stamkos & Eichel together?
I'm sure he will, just like he did with Kane
But if it doesn't work then I'd assume he'd split them up

And we've seen what a great passer Eichel can be
I bet Stamkos would LOVE being set up by him
I wouldn't be too worried about Jack still getting his

But even if we had to split them up too...
It would give us the potential for three dynamic lines
And I remember how hard our offense was to stop when we had 3 lines going in 05-06 & 06-07
I kinda like that idea a lot

I have no idea as far as links go. Have just seen interviews including last year during the playoffs where he was asked if he preferred to play center and he kind of demurred and said yeah, but that he'd play anywhere the coach wants him to. He's a team guy and will play where he's told to, but if he got to pick he'd play center. I've also read interviews in the past where he basically said the same thing, that he's a center, but will play anywhere. Has he pulled a Drouin? No, but hockey players rarely come out and say anything other than the company line. His numbers are clearly down when playing the wing as well. I'm the injury didn't help, but when you have a guy that scores 60 goals, don't (frank)ing move him around! Let him be like Pavel Bure and sit in the neutral zone and never play defense if he wants. FFS!

Idk... that's not enough for me to think that Stamkos is only gonna sign somewhere if he's guaranteed to play center
I think all that talk is being way overblown

And also...
When he was moved to the wing with Tampa, he wasn't with anyone even close to as talented as Eichel as his center
I think that could easily affect his thought process about the situation

I was windering about that. Do you happen to know if we're currently holding any salary from past trades?

I am pretty sure that we are not. The last few that come to memory were Pommer and maybe Ott and Miller.

Anaheim on fire lately.

Buffalo in a slump, starting to sell, and bitten by injury bug.

Game starts 10:30pm.

After checking the anthem, I'm going to bed.

What does Legwand get? Maybe a 5th if we retain half salary?
