You're probably right, but 5 points is barely anything.

It's only because players are being paid under the table to play better than they are.

He seems pretty convinced of his conspiracy theory involving the nefarious tactics of the evil wily genius that is don Maloney

Specially considering we were minus our number 1 goalie up until about a month ago... 2 of our 20 goal scorers arent going to get close to that and girgs has been playing every other role other than the one he played last year which is what got him the stats he had

The Leafs have 19 regulation wins in their last 102 games.

I'm not kidding.

I'm sorry I'm having a hard time believing we both saw how that team performed last year that was a tire fire AHL team and now all the sudden they're better than both of us hardly believable and we both have star players they absolutely did nothing

So despite the number of extremely realistic and plausible reasons I gave, the only rational conclusion that you've come up with is that Maloney secretly paid his players to be bad last year??

Dude..cmon. Just sit and think about that for a second ..

Didn't bother to back read but did anyone mention that the quoted article was posted on the flagship site of the media conglomerate that owns the Leafs?

Textbook case of journalistic integrity.

Not.

Hilarious. this is the exact point of the blog post and the ensuing 18+ pages of (some) Leaf Fans calling us names. If your team does it, it's "dignified." if anyone else does it, it's a disgrace.

Leaf fans have been on the receiving end of more defeat in 48 years then anyone should have to endure in 3 lifetimes. Many of them courtesy of the Sabres. The leafs have been bad solely because of decades of shortcuts in team building. Leaf fans ARE NOT supporting this rebuild because of some SLICK media campaign. Give Leaf fans more credit then that. They're not stupid. They are supporting this rebuild because they are finally watching their team build the same way every team that has feasted on them for the last 48 years has!!!

This is one of those times where if you have to say "I'm doing it with dignity," you're probably not. Otherwise it's not necessary to even say it that way.

None of us has a problem with what they're doing. That's the thing. The problem is the fans that say what's going on there is different than what happened here last year.

God this writer is salty haha. He probably felt offended and needed a safe space when he heard what hodge was saying about the sabres tanking last year.

Sorry that the Leafs organization has the dough to do whatever they want and have is spun like gold in the media.... Psych!

You guys got Eichel, he's going to be a super star. Relax.

Plus, we all know the Leafs luck is poop. Matthews is probably going to Edmonton or you guys.

My goodness, this entire "blog" you posted defines butthurt.

"Buffalo did exactly what the Maple Leafs are doing now--maximizing assets--and they ended up with a team full of AHL players--much like the Leafs will be doing for the remainder of this season after they purge all their NHL talent. And the Sabres were raked over the coals for it."

The Sabres weren't trying to compete from the get-go; they tanked from October onward. Toronto stayed semi-competitive until January. They were 5-6 points back of a playoff spot. Any savvy fan knew that Toronto wasn't going to make the playoffs with their roster from October, but at least they kept it close. Barffalo didn't even try to hide that they were tanking... then all of your idiot Sabres fans yelled and whined and stomped when you had to "settle" for Eichel. Couldn't be happier that Edmonton won the lottery in that regard, just to piss all you butthurt babies off.

Agreed.

There is no difference other than Murray practically stated from day 1 that we weren't making the playoffs and would be competing for a pick. So Lou didn't come out and lay those cards on the table....

If Bubbles from 'Trailer Park Boys' walks into a vision correction center he's getting Laser Kerototomy. He's not getting a root canal. It is what it is.

If Kadri gets dealt by the Leafs I see a similarity to the Sabres dealing Myers. Former top draft picks and expected major core components of the team that new regimes didn't see for the future but still had value to bring what they wanted for their core. If the Leafs deal him the Leafs are following the Sabres rebuild model to a T.

It is likely to be a really late 3rd, so we should not be that excited, but I still like the deal.

We also ate half his salary, so there is that (limit of 2 a year, right?).
