I absolutely agree with you. It is time to break up the Atlanta 5. As we have already seen, they are toxic to the entire roster.

In hindsight:
Copp and Burmistrov were not an upgrade over Slater and Stempniak.
Copp should have spent season with Moose, and I wish I knew what to do about Burmi.

I think the biggest mistake was not re-signing Frolik. I would have loved to have seen Burmistrov and Perrault on a line with Frolik.

I liked Frolik but he priced himself out of Wpg, good player. This year 9 goals in 43 games and 4 more years North of $5 million..... Too much!

Postma's skill set is best suited to being an offensive d-man. No spot for another right shooting d-man like that on the Jets.....they should give him a fresh start somewhere else.

It's not just that- there were other $$ issues at play and one other key thing.

The "Atlanta five" have been our best players for 5 years. Not toxic at all. Only Pav and Ladd will be moved. The remain Atlanta carryovers are solid players. Wheeler is without question our leader and best player.

I doubt it gets you the shiny new toy in the eyes of management. Could I interest you in Nuge for Trouba? That would avoid the whole stipulation of needing to win the draft lottery.

On an aside, would you guy entertain a Trouba for Nurse deal? You guys get a LHD prospect with very comparable potential to Trouba with two years left on his ELC. More cost control and better handedness balance.

On a slightly different note, after the stinker in Carolina, the Jets picked the next day to send out their "playoff tickets" e-mail to season ticket holders. Talk about questionable timing !

That were a rebuilding team with the best prospect pool in the NHL that only only hung onto the useful players they got from a team that was horribly managed for years?

Yeah....but sending it out after such a bad game is just bad timing.
