Ah, c'mon Toby....I'd totally buy one of the Chad Flenderson novels. - johndewar
Chad Flenderson! Just an easy-going black guy who knows the streets--yet he also went to Oxford. Just as comfortable on a motorcycle as he is on Air Force One. Oh and he's also the world's leading Egyptologist. |

Bill,
Even if not suspended do you think the team sits Gudas for a game or some time? Can't be good to have a talk with him about his spots and then do something dumb. |

Last year Brian Flynn got a 5th, Jordan Leopold got a 5th, and Olli Jokenin got a 6th.
I think you're wrong in assuming Medvedev will only get that. Also...A big guy on the left side would be nice to see in the system? What system? - YuenglingJagr
I didn't say that he would only be worth a 5th, I said that it would be interesting to get a guy like Radovan Bondra plus a 5th or 6th.
By "big guy on the left side" I meant Bondra. By "system" I meant the Flyers farm system... |

Umberger 3 points in 4 games. And a well earned 3 points. Someone is owed a collective apology from this forum.....
I'm just glad I've been an RJ champion all along and can hold my head proudly. - Mononoke
I was at the game last night and wasn't impressed by him at all. Slow. Easy to bump off the puck. |

Are you aware of who might be on the left side of the Flyers farm system? Id rather just get the best pick available or some high upside forward |

- Completely unnecessary push from behind going into the boards injured a player
- Complete blind side by Gudas he's obviously an idiot out to injure people.
- Slash to the back of the leg (luckily it hurt enough to get a bs embellishment call. I'd like to see you get hit there and see if you don't have a similar reaction.)
- Knee on knee from Simmonds.
Just to name a few
I understand you have to win some games, somehow, but that game was pretty attrocious. I am sure some of you troglodytes thought that was really cool because you also are avid professional wrestling fans but that was a crap showing. Intentionally trying to injure players is a bullpoop minor league strategy that won't sustain any long term success and is also why your team is mediocre at best and probably always will be. - TRDevil

1) Gudas has unfortunately earned his rep, but that would have been a interference minor (and a very silly one to take, at that) by any other player. However, it was also an embellishment by Farnham, who has already been flagged and fined by the NHL for two dives/embellishments this year and carried a rep in the AHL of a guy who is not above doing that. Neither Gudas nor Farnham can be trusted. That's the bottom line. Farnham didn't miss a shift.
2) Blandisi himself admitted he embellished and should have reacted normally rather than, for the "benefit" of the officials, doing his aerial flip way after the fact. It was a needless and clear-cut slash. The sell was so over-the-top that it's going to be replayed whenever diving/embellishment videos are made -- and I don't mean by fans on Youtube, I mean by the NHL when they instruct their officials.
3) Glass houses, my friend. Devils are last in the NHL in scoring, live and die on the goaltending and special teams, have missed the playoffs four of the last five seasons and are in a precarious spot this season (especially having played more games than most of the teams right on their heels).
In the time since the Devils won their last Cup in 2003 -- with a trip to the Finals along the way and beating the Flyers in 2012, admittedly -- they've had four first-round exits, two second-round exits and four years out of the playoffs. In the same span, the Flyers have twice lost in the conference finals, once in a six-game Stanley Cup Final that could have gone either way, two second rounds, two first round and missed three times (quite possibly a fourth). Oh, and Philly won two of the three playoff series (2004, 2010 and 2012) played against the Devils in that span.
Neither team has all that much to be proud of as late. However, what would you call the Devils nucleus to build around? What's the state Lou left the farm system before Ray Shero came in? Who are the potential impact players so the team doesn't have to rely on veteran retreads such as the Lee Stempniaks and Mike Cammalleris of the league to be top line players?
The Flyers farm system was a mess a few years ago but has been rebuilt quickly, to the point that Gostisbehere isn't even the highest overall upside young defenseman in the system. They are not teeming in forward prospects but Konecny is a top-flight one and there a few other guys with top-nine upside. Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds are in their primes. Schenn and (prior to injury) Couturier finally seem to blossoming into what the Flyers projected they'd be.
If they were stock futures, the Flyers would be the smarter buy than the Devils. I think Ray is a good GM and the team will get more pieces in place. But to come in here trolling based on pumping the Devils' tires is false bravado.
Finally, consider this a warning that if you can't be civil on this board, you will disappear from it. - bmeltzer

No problem with the Farnham play. Farnham had made Schultz a target for the interference that resulted in the Gionta penalty. Schultz first shift out of the box and Farnham again went right at Schultz. Schultz just shouldered him right in the chest.. as Bill stated, it really wasnt even violent, but Farnham made seem as though a semi hit him at 50mph.

Your initial post was meant as an attack, and was clearly trolling. You are lucky you received a warning. - Hextall271
Yeah pretty much. I will admit it. The Devils played awful and the game was chippy so I was disappointed and pissed off when I commented. I was Morton salt mine salty at that moment which isn't the best frame of mind to comment. It seemed like your boys were actively trying to injure our players (mainly in the first and early in the second) at certain times which is unacceptable. None of you here were pro injuring our players so it is inappropriate for me to attack you as fans. Apologies if I offended anyone. |

Ya, I'd say that I'm pretty aware of what's going on in the Flyers farm system. Are you? The only power forward that is really intriguing to me is Lindblom (who himself was a 5th rnd pick).
I just threw a trade scenario out there that was intriguing to me. How this got turned around?... I dunno. |

Knock on wood, but Schenn has gradually been moving into me core list for flyers. Having said that, when it comes draft day I'm all for packaging Schenn with our first + to get Laine if we can - arichardson22

Just chatting...not trying to turn around anything. I would certainly take a trade like that over not moving Medvedev or anything below a 2nd (which isnt happening) |
