yeah i agree with you 100%, the draft is months away, the sixers are still even a year away from beginning to start putting a team together. phillies.....self explanatory there. id love to have some playoffs too believe me. im agreeing with you on cousins tho, he's not looking bad. interested in how guys like leier and straka would take a promotion, but thats obviously for another discussion at another time. but i like the positives in cousins game for sure. - sjk540

Does it make you feel good thinking that way?
With the infusion of Gostisbehere this has been a different team. They have a swagger. Cousins is now adding a swagger.
I know what they are but I also feel that they will do enough to sneak in. No one they are trying to catch are running away.
I just have this feeling they will do enough and then get Couturier and Del Zotto back.
Plus I think there will be a move or two that bring in not just picks but maybe a young winger that helps this team.
In the beginning I did feel like they had no chance. But for some reason I think they sneak in. This team seems to be gaining an identity and I think they get a spot and give Washington a run in the first round. - J35Bacher

Swagger, attitude, confidence.
Call it what you want but the two rookies seem to bring an energy. - J35Bacher
Well, if 2 rookies can do that much, just imagine what happens when we replace Gudas with Morin and Giroux with Martel. Too much swagger for the Earth to contain. |

I agree. The next 8 games, or so, are against bottom feeders, but after that it gets tough. From here on out, it looks like a .500 schedule. - Coleman
There's just too many teams to leap over and too many 3 point games. The math is really daunting. Could it happen? It could. I'd bet large sums of someone else's money that it won't happen, though.

The odds are certainly not in their favor, but that said, nobody is about to throw in the towel yet.
I'm keeping my eye on Streit to see if starts to get his legs under him again in the next 10 days or so, and to see if Hexy moves him. If he does, it's a clear indication that their eyes are looking toward next year.

This team is capable of playing with and beating anyone on any given night. However, their consistency from stretch to stretch (every 2-4 games) is lacking. They'd need a lot of "if"s to break their way, but it's possible. If they can go something like 5-1-2 over the next 8 and win 2 out of 3 against Pittsburgh, that would go a long way. Getting Coots back ASAP is a must, though, as they are a completely different team with/without him.
All that said, I'd still look to move guys like Schultz/Medvedev/Streit/Gagner at the TDL (Streit only for a 1st or 2 2nds). - jmatchett383
I definitely think they should be sellers if they can get decent offers.

call me evil but I want them to make it at the 8th spot (if the Flyers don't) and get trounced by Washington so they lose their first rounder and also don't win the cup. if they miss the playoffs their first rounder is protected - nastyflyergirl
That'd be great too, I just want all my Pens fans friends to cry and whine if they miss the playoffs. But getting smacked around by Washington and Ovi would be pretty great too. |

I agree. So I would like to get a 2nd for Medvedev and a 4th for Gagner, but I would take a 3rd and a 5th. Then Hextall can go into the draft with even more resources to trade up if there's another Konecny situation. |

Does anyone else forsee this being quite possibly the "worst" trade deadline in a decade? With the possibility of next years cap going down as much as 3-4 mill, I personally don't see how a lot of the players that are being predicted to move will do so.
I think we're going to see a lot of prospects and 2nd-3rd round picks moved. Like, a ton.
I don't see the Flyers making many moves, if any at all. I'd love it if they moved Raffl to a contender for a 3rd round pick. I could also see them moving a guy like White, although I hope he's resigned.
But as for trading a guy like Streit, I just don't see how its possible considering his age and the term left on his deal. It's just to big a cap hit for most teams that would be interested in him. |

If a contender takes Medvedev, he might be the stealthiest, cheapest difference maker out there (I don't think he will go for anything more than a 3rd but who knows?) Use him properly and he could take off. Chicago is a team meant for players like him. |

I don't think Chicago can fit Medvedev and we can't eat any more contracts. Seriously, they took Erik Gustafsson not because of his awesome upside, but because he only cost about 660K. |

Bickell plus a solid prospect or a pick. Basically do them a double favor and get a bigger reward. Would need more than just a third if they took Bickle. |
