I also think Crosby comes back down to Earth a bit and Pittsburgh potentially misses. - Tomfan365
Definitely a possiblity.
Difference is, that team and fans have actual expectations that I don't think we have. |

Yeah, because looking at the top-3 to top-5 players is a good way to evaluate the league as a whole. Look at the top 5 OHL scorers vs. the top 5 QMJHL scorers. That's a simple talent disparity. Start looking at the rankings after the top 10 or so players. It's not a crazy difference (like I said, it's gotten a lot closer) but it's there.
10th place:
OHL: 69 points
QMJHL: 74 points
15th place:
OHL: 65 points
QMJHL: 68 points
20th place:
OHL: 59 points
QMJHL: 63 points
25th place:
OHL: 53 points
QMJHL: 59 points
It's about the same at intervals of 5, maybe a 5-10% difference. I'm not taking anything away from NAK, simply that the players in the QMJHL, on average and aside from the "elite" players, score at a slightly better rate than the other 2.
Also, not looking into the stats, but I've always felt like the OHL has better goaltending, as well (again, on average). - jmatchett383
When the regular season's over I'm sure someone will calculate goals per game across the CHL. It's a lot easier when all the teams have played the same number of games. |

Option 2: nothing
Which do you take if you're TB? - jmatchett383
I take nothing and keep him and buy at the deadline in order to make a cup run. |

Dont mean to be a wet blanket but we're making the playoffs in everyone's mind now after last night? We're talking about the same game where the flyers couldn't put a SOG for 20 straight minutes? Yea they popped a few in past Schneider but I'm really surprised at the narrative. That the flyers play a bunch of non playoff teams coming up makes no difference as they've proven time and time again. Why get hopes up? - Just5

Nuttiest stat to me is the almost 3 shots per game... from the freakin' blueline.
Most forwards can't even touch that. |

Then it's settled, hammbone should just be cranky and pessimistic, for the sake of the team. |

Having played less than 40 games, he could not play another game this season and he's a lock for the All-Rookie Team. I still don't think he'll win the Calder (could be a finalist) but he's been better than I expected, and I was a big supporter. |

They need to get back to Flyers hockey, the way they played when Hammarby was in his early 40s. |

yup, he's just dominating everyone down there. I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't make the team right out of camp.

The rationale seems to be that the Flyers are going to get back into the playoff hunt by playing the next 8 games or so against non-contenders and general dreck. You know... the teams whose level the Flyers usually play down to...
What makes anyone think that all of a sudden the Flyers are going to miraculously crank it up several notches for an extended period of time is beyond me. They are who they are. |

For reference, Tyler Myers put up 48 points in 82 games (0.58 PPG) when he won the Calder. The top rookie scorer than year was Matt Duchesne (67 points in 80 games, 0.84 PPG). Jimmy Howard was the other finalist that year. |
