But look at what happened with Montreal. They looked like world beaters and, once their starter went down, they went into a tailspin. If the Flyers want to make a push next year, I'd rather have insurance (cheap insurance at that) rather than rely on some AHL/NHL journeyman type. That 2nd rounder may one day play for the Flyers, or Phantoms, or neither.
I bet the Rangers were happy they had Cam Talbot in net last year. They only traded him because he was an upcoming FA who wanted a raise. They would have kept him otherwise.
Edit: By "later round" I meant not first round, i.e. later than 1st. - jmatchett383
I can see both sides. There are examples of it working out either way. Kings unloaded Martin jones for a 1st and signed UFA enroth who has better numbers than quick this year. In talking about we both have to admit it could work out either way.
I'm not giving neuvy away, in fact I'm not taking anything less than 2 2nds from a playoff team. A 2nd and a 3rd wont do it. I just believe giving Hexy those picks is better for the flyers in the longer term picture. The progress of stolarz isn't lost on that decision. Lots of things factor in |

I mean there are 4 officials on the ice. Can't they have a logical conversation before one of them decides to throw someone out? - funmaster18
Would probably be worse with 3 refs |

I never said the Devils were a cup contender or anything. My brother is a Flyers fan so I am pretty aware of all of your highs and lows. In the 58 games I've watched this year that was the dirtiest showing hands down. I've been watching hockey my whole life and yes aggressive play is great. Trying to cause injury is where the line is drawn.
Gostibehere is impressive.
Blandisi did jump around like he got bit by a pitbull.
That was a very tame post to get a warning on. In my opinion your team is mediocre. The Devils are pretty mediocre also if you haven't noticed. I sure as hell wasnt pumping any tires so that comment is a miss. Did you think mediocre means something vile or inappropriate? Mediocre means "pretty ok" or "not that great" in case you were confused.
Admittedly I was a little upset watching the replays again and all of the dirty little plays so maybe it was a little pointed but a warning is odd for using the word mediocre.
We have zero depth so any injury particularly on a play that was intended to cause injury really stings when in a tight playoff spot. Gionta is one of our main penalty killers and that cute little push that injured him deserves a suspension in my opinion (trying to be careful here because you warned me about sharing my opinion I guess so I won't use any easily confused words).
You guys won the game, great but when I see several unacceptable attempts to injure from one team in a game I will say something about it. Heckle me all you want but it's still bs. - TRDevil
Why do we have to pick on pitties. Those monsters.

it was a nice opportunity for Cousins and I think he is going to run with it.
Like what I've seen so far. - Marc D
I like he plays with a swagger and your seeing it more each game.
Plus I wonder what he said to Farnham at the end when he was on the ice. Looked like bench guys were laughing and farnham went nuts.
I like him more each game. |

Just thought of something:
Tampa is in the last spot of the Wildcard.
Yzerman has said he isn't moving Stamkos at the deadline because of the playoffs.
How great would it be if they missed the playoffs and then lose stamkos to FA for nothing.

While I agree that they would be able to add another goalie. That has been my stance. The other goalies are meh. And that doesn't need to happen until next years deadline.
The biggest knock on Neuvirth is that he hasn't played at a #1 level for a sustained amount of time (which I think it's arguable). Another season of him playing like this would only make it better
It will come down to whether Hextall thinks he could sign a guy like Stalock for 1.5 mill and if he can get a first at the draft |

I go to NaturalStatTrick.com sometimes just to see if he finishes as the worst possession player in his games. He almost inevitably does. Last night he did OK though haha. I just want to make sure the LA beats aren't pulling a fast one on me. |

If they drop out of the playoff spot before the deadline, can you move Stamkos after you just publicly said he isn't going anywhere?
What if they get some huge offer that helps them for the future?
I would never publically state anyone is not being traded. |

Can you imagine if this was the Flyers' scenario?
I can't imagine a GM hated more in Philadelphia than Ruben Amaro Jr. was, but a scenario like the one in Tampa ending with that team out of a playoff spot, while alienating one of your best young talents and losing your best player in free agency would probably surpass Amaro hate. |

If he makes past the deadline and they are shopping his rights don't you think they have come to the conclusion they won't resign him?
I would just wait for FA?
