Cousins has used his extra year of AHL time to develop quite nicely and come in and steal Laughton's spot.

The Weal injury is unfortunate because now they may have to keep Laughton up as the 13th forward instead of getitng him playing time in the AHL. But if Gagner is traded, then I assume Laughton would go back in the lineup and the deadline is almost here. |

I do think Gagner is in the lineup so he gets traded |

I wonder if Laughton could be moved if they feel Cousins is a better fit for the team. Use Laughton to get a similar aged player back. Maybe a natural winger.

They will probably go something like 4-3-1, so they won't improve their playoff standing, or their draft position. - PLindbergh31
This is definitely the safe bet |

You can normally transition a guy to the wing...I just really think that they expected more out of Laughton defensively and his struggles were not expected. Part of the reason I think he is still in the NHL as well, so he gets better at defense at the NHL level |

I think he is being a bit optimistic, given the way that they have devoted themselves to doing charity for bottomfeeders the last two years or so.

Cousins does a lot of good things battling on the wall. He's better than Gagner or laughton at it. Tying up the battle for a little longer or making a difficult pass out of the scrum. I've enjoyed his last couple games. How's he doing on face offs anyone know? |

I would love to see him moved to the wing.
I thought he played well with Cousins.
Next year I wouldn't be against a 3rd line of Laughton - Cousins - (Player x)

I think moving to LW would help Laughton. There'd be less defensive responsibility, he wouldn't have to worry about getting killed on faceoffs, and he could focus on using his best attributes which are his speed and wrist shot.
If Gagner does leave, they could try Laughton-Raffl-Read. |

Very well for a rookie.

It might be time to move PEB to the wing, at least on draws. White is MUCH better at faceoffs. |

I also noticed him on some key draws too. There was a draw over the weekend where we were trying to battle back in the final minutes and he was out there taking an offensive zone draw. |

I just looked it up. He took a neutral zone faceoff at 5v5 against NYR...you can't tell me that the other forwards (between Laughton, Cosuins, and Voracek) weren't better choices. I mean, he won it which is great, but I don't know why he was taking it. |

It could have been mistaken identity since Ghost is #53 and Cousins is #52. |

My Reasonable Wish List
Trade at the deadline-
Schultz trade for a 4th
Streit trade for a 2nd & 3rd/4th
Medvedev trade for a 2nd/3rd
Gagner trade for a 4th
White Trade for a 4th
VDV Trade for a 6th
Next Years Line Up
Jakub Voracek Claude Giroux Wayne Simmonds
Michael Raff Couturier Brayden Schenn
Read Scott Laughton konecny
Bellemare Nick Cousins Weal
*Let Straka, Leiere or other prospects battle out for a position on the bottom 2 lines
Del Zotto Radko Gudas
TBD Shayne Gostisbehere
Andrew MacDonald TBD
*In the TBD I'd let Morin & Prov try to make the team, sign a couple FAs to 1 year deals, try to resign Medvedev next summer, or pick up a Dmen in a trade deadline trade like we did with Coburn/Gudas
Steve Mason
Michal Neuvirth

Ouch lol I wish Todd had a bit of this in him. To be fair though our team is supposed to have or was supposed to of had a player named Kovalchuk who did what no player has done in my lifetime and completely (frank)ed over his team mates and Lou could not exactly control that or how much money the old owners of the team had. Now I am not sure how or what kind of shape the Flyers would be in if their owner was ever broke because it will likely never happen and the whole Kovalchuk type thing will also likely never happen again but I wouldn't just pit the state of the franchise on Lou, He was a true champion who would do anything to win and would never ever through in the towel and that's got to be something to be respected, I think anyways lol - blizzzard
the Flyers are really owned by Comcast.....so as you said being broke will never be a problem. comast is going to own th world one day |

I just want to say one thing about the goalies.
If we truly believe that we have a 1A/1B situation with Mason and Neuvirth, why are we all in such a rush to dump one of them for picks?
I believe that next season is when we should look to make a push for the playoffs. Maybe not a Cup contender, but next season, we should realistically be a playoff team. If that is the case, why not hold onto both of them? If one goes down, I'd much rather have the other one to carry us that an AHL call-up/LaBarbera-type. After the season, weigh the better/cheaper player scale and go with who you want (or, if you can manage it, both). I'd rather have a quality backup as insurance next year than dump one this year for a later-round pick. |

Id (frank) with that foward group. I wouldnt mind seeing Raffl, Jake, and Laughon moved around in that lineup either. I think Weal and/or Cousins will be in the AHL at the beginning.
Gudas is the 7th for me and I think Morin starts the year in the AHL.
My reasonable list really just involves trading Schultz at the deadline. Setting Medvedev loose until the deadline and hope to get a pick (i really wish they let him play more this year...he is the second more skilled Dman on this team). Move Laughton to wing or the AHL. Trade Gagner
