It starts with Julien. Time to go. He is a good coach and honestly if Boston let's go St. Louis should dump Jabba the Hut and hire Julien. Perfect philosophy and team structure for Claude's style.
As for the Bruins, I don't know. Laviolette is already taken. - One_Eyed_Sweede
really? laviolette over Julien? c'mon.

We rely on a 40 year old slow as (frank) decrepit d-man as our #1 and rely on him to play 25 minutes a night.
Replace Chara with a legit #1 d-man, and this team is probably a decent cup contender. With Chara we are mucking it up in the middle for a playoff spot.
The team is #3 in goals per game in the entire NHL... we don't need scoring... they are fine with scoring. We need a legit top pairing defender, and we need to get rid of Chara... I think that would take care of most of our problems.
Seriously, I don't understand how you guys can come here and throw dudes like Jimmy Hayes, Matt Beleskey or Zac Rinaldo under the bus as the reason why we're not a legit cup contender. Those guys are ROLE PLAYERS, and they're doing a decent job of playing to their role. Chara is not playing up to the role of a #1 d-man by a LONG shot. I don't care what his points or possession stats are... he is (frank)ing awful on defense. AWFUL.
Now the team being soft is another issue all together... they miss Thornton. Never should have moved on from him in my opinion. |

Didn't even have to wait 10 minutes for Chara to give up a terrible play, then takes a penalty that leads to a penalty shot goal. |

You make it sound like #1 dmen are readily available. There are only a handful of true #1 dmen in the league and they aren't going anywhere. It's easy to say we need to replace Z. But give us some names!

I understand that #1 d-man are not readily available, but it literally could be anybody. Anybody. It doesn't have to be a clear cut #1... if we had Dougie this year instead of Chara, we'd be so much better. I'd rather see this lineup tonight, minus Chara plus C Miller. I'd rather see anyone other than Chara on the ice. I think you just subtract him off this team and replace him with a stay at home d-man that can skate and the team is better.
I understand there's nothing they can do, but I think it sucks they are going to lose Loui, who plays better defense than Chara mind you, because we have $7mil tied up in Chara.
He is literally an anchor weighing this team down, physically and financially. Again I understand there is nothing they can do... I just like to vent about it. |

This team right now without Chara is probably dead last in the conference. You may not want to believe it, but it is true. I would be careful in what you wish for. If he is gone, this team gets real bad, real quick. To say that this team would be better with Chara in the pressbox and C.Miller taking his spot is just ridiculous and absurd. Nothing against C.Miller, I think he should be in the lineup every night.

With a youth movement yes. Thin of all those years he was able to get Philly into the playoffs with no goalie, a poor defence and a GM hellbent on not resolving those issues.
Take a look at some of those guys who were young back then and what they are now Now think about their progress when Julien would've had them riding the bench.
