Too easy Golfing...

you made the claim. I doubt even one Leaf fan ever said that or felt that way.

It is total BS. You know it. You got called on it.

- Aetherial

Nah, I got banned once in here because I debated that Dion wasn't a true #1 and that Kessel wouldn't lead the team to the cup. It was claimed by more than 1 and you know it. Maybe not in the past couple of years, but beforehand for sure.

Yeah, i'd do 8 years if I felt I had the proper read on him. Overpay now....save later. Only thing you may have to worry about is a decreasing cap down the road so you don't want to overpay too much.
- golfingsince

If you could get 8 x 5 or 8 x 5.5 I think you do it.

It would be interesting to see if his agent would go for it. On one hand that could cost him a lot of money, on the other hand, your point about the cap is valid, that money might not be there down the road if the cap stagnates. I don't think anyone believes Oil or the CAD is improving significantly any time soon.

Id rather hear Sakic or Lidstroms opinion rather than a goalies. Theres such a thing as over analyzing a game. At some point you start to think maybe the guy who has never scored a goal shouldnt be giving insight on how to score goals.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

They're not doing it, for what ever reason so we don't have that option.

Hrudys strength comes from analysis between periods and such ve douchebag Healy acting like an imbecile during periods.

Goalie are in a unique sistuation in that they know about what works for goal scoring as well or better than anyone, if if they haven't scored one themselves.

In the 5-6 range per for 7-8yrs..Wouldn't do a bridge on a guy like that as it's pointless..Still gonna have to give him term next contract and could very well cost way more per year in cap hit....
Leafs dont need cap relief at this point so a bridge does nothing...Unless management dont think he's a top pair defender..

I don't think they'll go for that low of a dollar amount over 8 years, however I could be wrong. I still think you'd have to go 6.5 on 8 years.

I don't like the Sportsnet team at all. As the TSN guys employment contracts end they should poach them all.

I hate that stupid thing they do in between periods where they all stand around and look at images on the floor or stand around a net and hold hockey sticks.

Strombo - well my mother said if you can't say something nice....

Ratings are down - yes - because the Canadian teams are in rough shape...but Sportsnets president is using that as the only excuse. Refusing to accept that their brilliant new product is sub-par.

Personally - I don't pay for cable, it's a rip. I used to watch Saturday nights on cbc.ca but now I just find free live streams. F Rogers!

To this point, no one knew that Corrado suffered a separated shoulder during the playoffs and played through it. It depends on degree, but generally it’s a 3-5 week rehab for NHL players before they can play again.

Q: Did that impact you for weeks?

Corrado: Months.

“It happened in the first round. It was Game 3 against Chicago(AHL Wolves). At home. I separated my shoulder. I played the rest of the playoffs with it.

“It’s one of those things that take a long time to heal. Throughout the summer, especially when you have a late summer like that, there wasn’t much I could do.

“I had to let it heal. When it got time where I could really push it, it was basically training camp.”

So, he just played through a broken hand and a separated shoulder and was given up on by a team who concluded he had a poor training camp even though he couldn’t work out in the summer?

It also was a reason Corrado didn’t play much with the Leafs when he arrived.

“It was easier in (Toronto) because there was a plan. I knew they had a plan for me. They had a picture of when they wanted me to play.
“Knowing that there was a group who had a plan for me, made things easier. They talked to me, let me know. ‘Keep getting stronger,’ they said.

“The time off, I got a lot of time to work out and that helped because I missed the time in the summer.”

If they don't think so then he won't sign for 8 years IMO. If they do, then they'll pay more than 5-6 I would think.

I would hazard a guess that you weren't banned because your opinion ran contrary to Leafs fans on Kessel and Phaneuf. I was on the devils advocate side of arguing for those players and even I didn't think they were anywhere close.

What Leafs fans DID believe was that Phaneuf didn't deserve the derision from all the other fan-bases and that Kessel was a legitimate star, even if he was not the kind of player you can build around as a leader.

Think back, what was most Leafs fans reaction to the Phaneuf signing or the Kessel trade.

Those are probably the two moments Leafs fans have hated MOST in recent memory. There is no way in hell our fanbase felt those two would lead us to the promised land.

I would be surprised if even one person (outside of the idiots at m a p l eLeafshotstove) ever felt that way.

can you image roenick on the broadcast as well.

Roenick is an imbicle. He'd fit right in with Strombo and Healy.

I have no desire to listen to the jackass for one second.

I think you may be right on the bullseye there. In fact, it could even go to 7+ if the Leafs want 8 years.

Rielly contract will be interesting. If I'm a Leafs GM I would absolutely do:

8 X $6.0
6 X $5.75

If I'm Rielly...honestly, I probably want

2 X $5.0

He'd still be RFA and I think we can all see his natural progression and 2 more seasons he could get himself a PK type deal. He's had a rough week or two but he is now a top pairing D. With another season or two of experience playing at that spot and he will be a 40-50 point guy, plus all shut-down roles. H e can set himself up for a great payday.

I'd love it if he just said you know what, I'm going to be rich as F anyways.... 8 years X $6mil. All good, but I think a more reasonable option for him is the 6 year deal, because when it ends he'd still be young enough(28 I think??) to sign another massive deal.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying too. The Leafs want to get that big long term money saving deal - but if Rielly is smart he'll grab that 2 year deal. As a fan, I want 8 X $6mil or something like that....but the player has more power here - because he is awsome.
