Not sure what the jackets are looking for. I really like Atkinson but I'm more interested to see what Vatrano can really offer.
- glove_was_stuck

I think Vatrano would look very good with Marchy and Bergy

Me too. I would nice to have someone who can not only skate with them but actually score as well. Vatrano showed he has a knack to find the back of the net. I could see him being a lot like Cam Atkinson actually.

Yeah I don't know Atkinson's game very well, which is what made me ask. If he's similar to Frankie V. then I'd definitely roll Vatrano on that line since he's cheaper than Atkinson and obviously don't have to give up anything to get him. I had high hopes for Connolly, but it looks like that train has sailed.

I'm not sure you give up on Connolly yet. But get him out of the lineup for now. I don't see why it's unacceptable to put him Providence unless he has to clear waivers first.

Seidenberg and Eriksson should be traded

Hayes should be traded

Young top 4 D needs to be acquired (Lookin at you, Winnipeg. Hayes Koko and a 1st for Myers/Trouba?)

I like moving Spooner to the wing, top 6 needs his speed/skill

Going forward:

Marchy Bergy Vatrano
Spooner Krejci Pasta
Belesky Czarnik Connolly
Claudes choice of plugs

Chara Myers/Trouba?
Krug McQuaid
Morrow Trotman

Rask

Yeah, he needs waivers, that's why we got him in the first place. But, I agree, if he ever finds his scoring touch he could be a real good player.

I concur!
I am not sold one way or another on Hayes. Seems like he is doing a decent job in the bottom 6. I like how adding just 1 good dman, slots all the defenceman to a better spot.

I'm not giving up on Connolly, I'm just giving up on Connolly as RW for Marchand/Bergeron. For a 1mil cap hit, I have no problem with Connolly...just play him on the 3rd line

Chara is done... stick a fricken fork in that dude... he's a shell of himself, and gives up bad plays EVERY GAME. As JI pointed out, he's a #3/4 defenseman on any legit team... and he's our #1...

They're missing McQuaid, but he's not a #1/2 so him returning isn't going to make a HUGE impact.

Seidenberg still has some game left, but I think it would be smart to move him now before he has nothing left.

Connolly just needs to be put in a better role... sure maybe some day he could be a top 6 guy, but he's not a top 6 guy right now, and Claude is dumb for keeping him there.

I think Hayes works well in a bottom 6 role, and being a hometown kid they just acquired this year, I don't think they're going to deal him this quickly.

I'd love to see them keep Loui, but I think he's the Soderberg of this season... he'll demand too much money in the offseason for us to keep him, though I wish they would.

I think this has been a rough season for Rask... Rask is an elite goaltender, but it seems like some of his tendencies from when he was younger are creeping back in. He really matured over the past several seasons, but he seems to have regressed to the pouty kid he was when he was backing up TT. It seems to be affecting his play, and he's not stepping up to the plate when he's needed. But if they traded Rask, that SCREAMS rebuild.

Spooner has gone back to being almost non-existent as a 3rd line center... he should be moved back to the wing... I like him with Marchand and Bergeron, but he was good on Krecji's wing as well. Maybe he could rotate back to center in a few years, but right now, he definitely looks like a winger.

I'd like to see Randell get more playing time as well... I really don't understand why he's been exiled to the press box.

Marchand Bergeron Spooner
Eriksson Krecji Pastnak
Beleskey Ferraro Hayes
Randell Talbot Connolly

Chara C Miller/Trotman
Krug McQuaid
Morrow Seidenberg

We do not have a player anywhere near the top 25 in Norris voting.............that would support the idea of no top pairing D man in my book.
- JIwasinskiJr

Top 25 in Norris voting last year (2014-15) included the great #1-2 D men such as ...

13 Anton Stralman TB (note Victor Hedman not in top 25)
18 TJ Brodie and 20 Dennis Wideman both of CGY
21 Brent Burns SJ
22 Brian Campbell FLA
24 Justin Faulk CAR
25 Andrei Markov

Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't you one of people who were dead set against re-acquiring Dennis Wideman - by your own argument (top 25 in Norris voting) a top pairing D-Man.

I think we all understand your opinion - Chara is garbage, but trade him for a 1st and a prospect?

I guess I am a minority on this discussion. But I think trading Chara is a huge mistake right now.

* Top 25 in goals, assists, points, time on ice
* Plays against other teams top units every game and most of his starts are in the d zone and carries a respectable plus minus
* Captain, mentor, support system for all the rookie defenceman is huge in their growth and maturity.

For everyone lobbying to through him in the burn pit, I can't imagine how bad this team would be if they didn't have him. Who plays all those hard minutes, penalty kill, and against other teams top line. If he's gone our top pairing is Trotman and Seidenberg!

The man is 6'9" and is slow as hell, but he is still effective. I believe his errors are magnified because his partners leave him out to dry. We can all agree to disagree but I don't think Chara is going anywhere. At least not until Sweeney brings in a capable top pairing defenceman.
