Sutter doesn't like him. He's been a healthy scratch for a while now. Kings have a ton of skillful forwards to come up. I would love to get Pearson to play with vey. - Codes1087
really hey? well I'd definitely be into taking advantage of Sutter's opinion |

There is a reason Sutter doesn't like him. I'd prefer draft picks to Pearson. A bit more detail on the Hamhuis situation

I imagine the 1st, if that is what you think la would give us, would probably be between 26 and 30 overall. Pearson is obviously more than a prospect so it depends on how fast benning would want success. I would prefer a pick which is why I figure Pearson and a 2nd or third would be nice and fair. LA wants a rental d man. |

Depending on how Hammer handles it, after TDL if he doesn't waive I would put him on Waivers and let w/e team that wants him take him. But this depends on why he doesn't waive/if he even gets asked. I would honestly say to him "Look, we plan to resign you in the off season. We aren't making the playoffs this year. Will you please waive to be traded and we will sign you back, should you want to resign with us?" - Retinalz
You would punish Hamhuis by putting him on waivers? WOW WOW |

Benning says team will recall weber and Friesen #canucks
I'd rather Pedan... Weber might be worth more while he is in the ahl...

He has been pretty poor this season and played himself off Toffolis line. He hasn't been able to find any level of consistency in the NHL and he is a perimeter play in my opinion. He may be worth taking a chance on but if I had to choose between him and a first round pick I would def. choose the draft pick. Perhaps he is worth a mid round pick |

What a load of sh!t. Where in the contract or in the NTC, does it say you must waive your clause to help the team in the future?
Sorry man, but I hate that crap that, before your contract (signed in good faith) ends, you should rip it up and get traded. He owes the team squat once the contract ends. - Marwood
That's right he owes the team squat.
And after his contract the team owes him squat.
I think that is what I said no? |

I'm pretty sure you can't put Hamhuis on waivers, as I'm sure part of his NTC also addresses issues such as that. Not to mention, the organization would look like it's a Mickey Mouse operation. |

Yes I would. A true team player would waive the final year of his NTC if the team wasn't going to make the playoffs(or had a snowballs chance in hell like we do) if it meant a guaranteed contract back with that team in the off season(one he reportedly wants to resign with). Otherwise he is just being selfish(which he has every right to do), but I am a vindictive b4st4rd and would put him on waivers after TDL and let w/e team wants him for the rest of the season have him. Or he can do to the other side of the continent to play. |

I thought it was NMC that you can't be place on waivers. NTC you just can't be traded without consent. |

that's it? There's a big difference between a coach not liking a player and a player not playing up to his potential yet. |

I agree. If a player has a ntc and doesn't want to waive, end of story no hard feelings. Benning can ask but if he says no, he has to move on and let it go. Hammer has every right to decline, he signed the contract. - Codes1087
That is what I said. He has the right to say no thanks. Same as at the end of the year Canucks have the right to say no thanks when he is looking for a new contract. |

you are correct, but if hammer doesn't waive his ntc, I hope he wouldn't be waived by the club, might hurt future free agent opportunities... comes across a little spiteful.
healthy scratches for Hamhuis to get other dmen into the lineup to see where they are at in their development, but not waived. |

That's what he signed. The Canucks would look childish & petty by having a little huffy-fit, and say even though we want to re-sign , we're not going to because you have a poo-face.
However is in charge, we desperately need a 'head exploding' emoticon added to the choices!! |

I have said it before. He is a family man he has that NTC he is playing in the rules of their agreement.
Canucks don't need him after this season and need to pay attention to the RH side of the D and have lots of money to try and fix it. The smart thing is to let him walk. Let him find employment somewhere else.
Shake hands and part ways.
If Dan said I would like to stay on past next year if he went out of his way to help the club then maybe they try to do the same for him for his next contract.
If not shake hands wish each other luck much like Sundin did |

A second round pick and a good prospect in lindberg seems like overpayment to me. he's a 3-4 d-man with an absurd contract of 7 mil for next 4 years. They now have 20 mil in cap space and another pick and prospect. Big win, Cowen might even pan out who knows - neem55
His contract is front loaded its perfect for the sens who have an internal budget. Love the deal for the sens. |

Bennings as never come out and said he wants to re-sign him , he has always said Dan is an important part of the team , we will reevaluate at the end of the year.
Quite frankly I would be very surprised if Benning did give him a new contract |

Not really , we are not winning the cup this year. |
