Hammer has every right not to waive and Canucks have every right to say no thanks at the end of the year.
I know if a player says no thanks I don't want to move to help the team , I say good luck to your career once the contract expires. - VANTEL

Hoff is a piece of poop Dman . Does that spell it out. He doesn't hit, he lost his speed ,and is pretty much given up on by three teams in the last three years.
Can we drop this stupid love affair for ex useless Canucks. - VANTEL
Was it on yesterdays list? |

Thank you, Vantel for your voice of reason. Loved his contribution back in the day, but also loved Jeff Brown, Jirki Lumme, Tony Tanti and so on. Doesn't mean they should suit up today. - bazz
We have a better version of Hoff in Edler and we all poop on him Imagine if we had an older slower and more injury prone Edler? |

This is from Bob MacKenzie today:
the Canucks apparently haven’t, as of today, received a single call, not one, from another team inquiring about Hamhuis’s availability. - fiveandagame
Note he doesn't indicate how many teams that JB has called.....

Ok so we have been out scored 32 times this year but we don't call that losing anymore. Do they hand out ribbons for second place - VANTEL
Well they used to be called ties, so there's that.
My point was that the team is actually middle of the pack in regulation losses despite injuries sustained this season to key players. Its not a good or contending team but not the terrible tire-fire either which is why JB hasn't torn it down |

If Benning hasn't already decided to trade Hamhuis then he is a dumb GM. Hamhuis may not waive but that is a different story. Benning should be trying to move Every expiring contract already.
We convince Hamhuis to come back if we are trading Edler otherwise see ya - VANTEL
There is a lot of forwards and low end dmen that are up for grabs those are the guys I look to move asap before you get stuck with them and teams like the leafs have sold out at bottom basement prices.
Hamhuis you can hang on to longer as he is the only good ufa dman up for grabs at the deadline. |

Yup and its not like he is being dealt to a crap team. He will have a legit shot a at cup just to play for another team for 3 months big (frank)ing deal. |

I'm not sure what you mean, I really think the Leafs have gotten pretty amazing return considering the contracts/characters they were moving over the past two years. I hope we follow suit. |

Sadly, I fear fans are overvaluing our players again and I'll have to listen to the Benning sucks crowd whining. Nobody on here wanted Hamhuis before his injury and all of a sudden he is going to net a huge return? Other teams scouts watch the same games we do. He has lost a step and Vrbata has been brutal. If they are moved, he value won't be significant. A 2nd and a 3rd for the pair. - CanuckDon
Vrbata had 30 last year and on pace for 20 this year. He will get what the market dictates we should have tried dealing him montreal before they poop the bed now that ship has basically sailed.
Hamhuis will get at least a 1st. Players werent as good as him and getting more than that last season. I dont tthink he has missed a step, he was playing weber most of the year and the guy isnt even in the league anymore. You can put hamhuis on any pairing and he will be fine. Not to mention he is the best dman there is who is available. |

I as a fan would rather hear we are rebuilding. Then I know what to expect , no false hopes. Buckle down and enjoy the ride |

I mean the leafs will be unloading all of there UFAs for anything they can get. Thats why we should be actively tyring to unload what we have now before other teams beat us to it.
I thought they didnt get enough for dion and i hate the guy. I would have taken him on the canucks and paired him with hamhuis and we would have had a legit 2nd pairing. |

Carol mentioned Washington as a trade partner. Brooks Orpik is due back any game they are probably not an ideal trade partner but I would say Pittsburg. They are getting hot right now and Sully and Hamhuis have good history I think. So it is possible. |

Hammer has a full NTC. Varby has a limited and needs to provide a list of 8 teams that he will except a trade to.
In Hammer's case it must be extremely frustrating. JB could put in all the work and put the framework of a deal together and then go to Hammer only to hear no I don't want to go there...
I am just saying that there is a little more then 2 weeks left till tdl. It generally takes about a week for a trade of a core player to work out. That means JB has realistically only 1 shot at this and needs to pick a trade partner that he is sure or somewhat sure the Hammer wants to go to.
Look at Iginla's deal. Cal worked on that deal for weeks and got something that they thought was a good return and Iggy just refused it. They ended up taking scraps from Pitt. - Linden_4_Capt
JB has to persuade Hamhuis to give him some trading partners, maybe a list of a few teams to key in on. Someone had suggested the Kings yesterday, I think that could work, he might waive if he is staying in the same time zone to make it easier on his family. or he could be stubborn and stay put. |

It is a big (frank)ing deal or Hammer. The guy took atleast 500k preseason paycut to get that NTC. His contract was a great value when he signed. Now the team wants to profit from him losing money, he has every right to say no. That being said, it must be awkward coming back to the rink day after day after you refuse knowing full well the team management and coaching staff does not want you there anymore.
But don't for even 1 second think that players will do anything for the team. They are for themselves as we have seen with multiple lockouts. |

Thats the frusterating part. Everyone in the media saying should rebuild and deal expiring contracts not just the people here. But they also say FA is being a problem and wants to make the playoffs at the end of the day we arent even close with our defense |

I wonder if we could pry Pearson from them. He was a healthy scratch a few games a guy. They have a ton of guys ready to jump up, or so I have heard. |
