You guys forget that it is very rare a goalie starts on a back to back for both games. They may not think Marky can handle playing 2 days in a row yet. |

We are a 500 team, who cares if we make the playoffs and get our asses kicked for four games. - VANTEL
with those otl's I don't even consider us a .500 team
I just hate the end of the Canucks season, but missing and getting better picks is likely the medicine we need. |

There are no loser points in the playoffs. We have won 21 games this year and lost 32. We stink. We need to rebuild. |

Ehrhoff was placed on waivers today.... think JB will pick him up, especially with Edler out now for a while? - GloveHandStrong
If it means we can trade Hammer |

Hoff is a piece of poop Dman . Does that spell it out. He doesn't hit, he lost his speed ,and is pretty much given up on by three teams in the last three years.
Can we drop this stupid love affair for ex useless Canucks. - VANTEL
which means he would be a great pickup if we want to tank, allows for the team to trade Hammer. Ehrhoff steps in, we trade Hammer, we start losing, we get a good pick, we cut Hoff loose this summer when his contract expires, and we convince Hammer to come back. |

He was brutal enough last night after his team wins 9-2 to convince ownership to get rid of him. If you seen him play at all over the last year , one would not be asking to bring him in. Biega is a much better choice than AirSoft - VANTEL
If he will cause us to lose more games, isn't better to claim him? |

If Benning hasn't already decided to trade Hamhuis then he is a dumb GM. Hamhuis may not waive but that is a different story. Benning should be trying to move Every expiring contract already.
We convince Hamhuis to come back if we are trading Edler otherwise see ya |

This is from Bob MacKenzie today:
the Canucks apparently haven’t, as of today, received a single call, not one, from another team inquiring about Hamhuis’s availability. |

There also isnt 3 on 3 in the playoffs, or shootouts. Saying we "lost" 32 is a stretch because there were 12 coinflips that didnt go their way. At least the Canucks aren't in a playoff position because they have won so many in OT, THAT is more misleading to a team's performance than how many games they get beyond regulation and dont win |

What is the protocol here? Does the team need to get the OK first from the player before looking for trades or do they get a trade first and then try and get an ok from the player. I can imagine the process being really tiresome. Hammer has a full no trade, so who can JB really talk to about a trade before taking it to Hammer. Or does he go to Hammer to get a list of teams he would go to, but he has full NTC so he does not have to give anything. |

Ok so we have been out scored 32 times this year but we don't call that losing anymore. Do they hand out ribbons for second place |

If you are a gm on a team that wants to make a post season run and haven't inquired?
Shame!
I think Hamhuis should have some value, has played well since he came back.

Hammer has every right not to waive and Canucks have every right to say no thanks at the end of the year.
I know if a player says no thanks I don't want to move to help the team , I say good luck to your career once the contract expires. |

yes.
I think you can approach it a few different ways.
It sounds like with Lu, MG had a deal in place and went to Lu and Lu said no, I want to go to Florida.
The same thing could happen with Hamhuis and Vrbata except Vrbata could say no to a proposed team and then JB would say, well give me your list... Hamhuis could just say, I'm not leaving. |

I believe the list is eight teams and they are spelled out in the contract. That doesn't stop Benning from going to Vrbata and saying those eight have no interest but I have three who do .... |

Hammer has a full NTC. Varby has a limited and needs to provide a list of 8 teams that he will except a trade to.
In Hammer's case it must be extremely frustrating. JB could put in all the work and put the framework of a deal together and then go to Hammer only to hear no I don't want to go there...
I am just saying that there is a little more then 2 weeks left till tdl. It generally takes about a week for a trade of a core player to work out. That means JB has realistically only 1 shot at this and needs to pick a trade partner that he is sure or somewhat sure the Hammer wants to go to.
Look at Iginla's deal. Cal worked on that deal for weeks and got something that they thought was a good return and Iggy just refused it. They ended up taking scraps from Pitt.

The best things about the Canucks this year:
Markstroms play
McCann's 1st goal
Jake's 1st goal
Hutton's 1st goal
Gaunce's 1st goal
Bartkowski 1st goal
top of the list is Beth Bartkowski. |

Thank you, Vantel for your voice of reason. Loved his contribution back in the day, but also loved Jeff Brown, Jirki Lumme, Tony Tanti and so on. Doesn't mean they should suit up today. |

Sadly, I fear fans are overvaluing our players again and I'll have to listen to the Benning sucks crowd whining. Nobody on here wanted Hamhuis before his injury and all of a sudden he is going to net a huge return? Other teams scouts watch the same games we do. He has lost a step and Vrbata has been brutal. If they are moved, he value won't be significant. A 2nd and a 3rd for the pair. |
