I know what Kreider is at this point. I've seen him for years. He can be effective. I think he can score 25 goals, if he ever gets his head out of his ass, but I just don't see a Superstar. The question in my view is not whether I am willing to take the chance that Kreider can put it together in Tampa, but whether I am willing to take the chance that Drouin will be better for the Rangers than Kreider would be for the Rangers.
Players going both directions. Kreider can put it together in Tampa, and it could still be a good deal for the Rangers. Or it may not be. Uncertainty is part of every trade.
And Drouin is locked in next year at 900K. How much is Kreider going to get? - Pete V
The way he's played so far this year, not much. There's a silver lining. |

I'm all for keeping Yandle, but do you think he would take a pay cut to stay? He knows there is a possible window to win. I am not above trading Kreider and Skjei to make cap room, and buying out Staal. Assuming Gorton doesn't resign Boyle. |

if Yandle would take a salary in line with the other defensemen on this team, it would work.
If he wants Letang or Big Buff money, which he probably could get on the open market, then forget it
There are people who believe that Yandle is angry at the Rangers over his "misuse"
so, a lot depends if you believe that is fact or fantasy |

i dont think there is such thing as a pay cut anymore. there is fair value vs. free market value.
i cant expect someone to take less to want to be here either. I sure hope he does ala zucc and brass, those weren't necessarily pay-cuts but more of a fair price to stay.
boyle is finished after this year he basically said so b4 ottawa smoked them a few weeks ago. |

Too bad Hank didn't take the fair value road. Missed that Boyle quote. I figured he was done, but you just never know. |

with escrow on salaries of 18%, its hard to imagine any player taking less money than they can get |

regardless of where escrow is i was never in the boat of "oh youre here already, its NYC, take less money to stay"
in any sport, and life even i would never expect someone to take less money to stay in one place.
i hope they can give him something fair, if they hang on to him at the very earliest time in the negotiation. if we hang on to him and dont sign him boston is going to throw the bank at him and he probably takes it to go back to MA. |

At the end of the day it all comes down to the fact that hockey is a business. The lure of taking less money is to help build a competitive team (Zucc, Brass) while still receiving a fair salary. Sure you might get more in Edmonton, but would you go just for the money? It also depends on whether he really wants to play for Boston. I think he does.
Funny how the blog was all for trading Yandle the other day, now its all about how to keep him.
Fickle fans. |

it's going to be like that until the 29th.
he plays well, like he has been since Mac has been out we'll all want to keep him bc he makes the team better.
then he'll make a bonehead play like the blind pass against NJ and we'll want him gone.
while he may not set the world on fire here like he did in phoenix, and he may be up and down as milbury so eloquently put it last night i do think he makes this team better. if they do move him they need to get a sizeable return that can help for this years run. |

If we were out of the hunt, you certainly have to move him. I'm all for keeping him and taking the chance of losing him in FA. I don't buy the notion that we lose on the Duclair trade if we don't re-sign or get something back at the deadline. If you're going for it, he certainly helps give the team a chance to win.
If only he would stop those horrible giveaways. |

somewhat yeah, he had the couple 50+ years, 10-20 for 30 in the lockout. he's getting far less minutes now so his production is steady.
i remember more of the coast to coast, bombing shots coming in leading the rush type of this. obv av/ulf's system doesnt ask him to do that. |

Boyle said his biggest challenge when coming over to NY was that in SJ he was used to carrying to pick himself up the ice and making a play but here the system requires him to fire the puck up ice as quickly as possible. So yea, no coast to coast rushes for either of these guys. |

I'm very shocked by this and a little upset that the Rangers didn't put a claim in for him it wasn't bad but I guess McDonagh is it as bad as we think |
