I want to know what part of the trap involved block shots.
- smellmyfinger

The part where they give up their body to block shots in the neutral zone.

Who is going to explain to those that don't remember the dark ages of pre-Crosby hockey that rule changes like expanding the offensive zones, eliminating rules against two line passes and adding the trapezoid has made the trap much less effective than in the 90s?

Nobody plays the trap anymore. Because, like you said, there is no two line passing. It's not possible.

I really believe half the people who say "trap hockey" have no clue what it actually is.

A good indicator of how not to play trap hockey is getting out shot by a good margin.

How mad are the Rangers bloggers gonna be tomorrow. Girardi with another good game and Glass with an assist.

The trapezoid helped kill it too. The only option for teams was to dump, goalie played it out to a defenseman and the puck was headed the other way.

There should be rules against having goalies.

Do you think they made the trapezoid purposely because of Marty? As much as I personally dislike him, he was a phenomenal puck handler.

Yes, and others like him. Dump and chase was impossible against teams with goalies that could handle the puck. Every rule since the first lockout was about generating more offense.

That McIlrath hit at the end was monstrous. That is what they need
