Apples are Oranges.. You have a player that would constantly go down because of bruises/sprains/soreness/stiffness/etc and you have a player who went under the knife because of an injury and then comes back for a game and takes a puck in the mouth and you are comparing the two? Give your head a shake man. - Codes1087
I'm comparing the number of games missed - I could give two sh*ts about how, why and what type of player you wanna classify them as. Fragile or unlucky - he's missing games - that's the point - why are you defending that?? Its not an opinion its a fact (like Booth)
I also think you're missing the fact that I'm saying I'm a fan of Sutters and hate to see him hurt - BTW, I cant stand David Booth (he's one of my all time most hated Canucks) and I agree he was soft on the ice but to be fair bruises, sprains and stiffness?? He broke his foot, had ankle surgery and had multiple concussions so you may wanna shake your own head. |

I hope JB still unloads Vrbata and Hamhuis. - hillbillydeluxe
I was just thinking. This can either work 1 of 2 ways. Either JB see's a forward and a d-man out long term, therefore keeping Hamhuis and Vrbata might be a good option. As soon as Edler was out of the game last night, Hamhuis's minutes jumped up....
OR
He see's Edler and Sutter out past TDL, this accelerates the movement towards a tank and we become full sellers at TDL. |

So you are comparing man games missed of a player to another player that was labelled to be made of glass, simply off the fact that they both missed a ton of games? You should have made the comparison to Salo, would have seemed just as appropriate. |

dude......I know why he was injured and I don't like it as much as you but you cant deny what's happening - you can classify it as being "fragile" or "bad luck" all you want but the fact is he's missing more games than he's playing - just like........Mr. David "Trophy Hunting for Jesus" Booth - Brooks_Light

Gotta think Biega comes in, and Negrin or Pedan get called up.

I feel with hamhuis we can hang on a little longer because he is the best dman available. Only negative is risk of injury.
Vrbata on the other hand he should be moved as soon as you can get the pick you want because toronto is going to dump all sorts of forwards this year not to mention other teams. Vrbata is probably the best pure goal scorer but due to the volume once you see something decent pull the trigger. |

If Benning was smart he would say to Hamhuis we are going to trade you for a few months to a contender then re-sign you as an award for waiving your NTC.

I hope you are right. Its a double edged sword with Hammer as you want to showcase him, show other teams he can play big minutes and is reliable, yet run the risk of him being injured before TDL. To top it all off, he could give the middle finger to Benning and just not Waive his NTC and it could all be for nothing.
I am hoping Vrbata gets traded soon. If we get a second I would be happy. It is sad that he is only on pace for 18 as last year's numbers are much better than this years. |

This works especially if he will come back on the cheap for a year or 2 but with no NTC so we can deal him again next year or the year after |

Compare him to whoever you want man I just wanna see the kid in the lineup crushing it, nightly. What sucks even harder is in the last 5 years, the kid's missed 3 games |

If im hamhuis and offered to go at the deadline and get a chance at a cup im gone. Not a big deal to leave the family for 2-3 months while you go for a cup. If you decide not come back to the nucks your gona move on anyway so whats 2-3 months. I actually think hed be an idiot to waive.
Vrbata doesnt look like he is playing with much passion in his game I bet he plays better if moved. |

Sutter is turning out to be another Booth - he better not start taking pictures with bears...
Edler probably broke his foot or ankle - so the question is who do we call up Jon Landry, Travis Ehrhardt or John Negrin???? choices, choices, choices!!! - Brooks_Light
What a stupid comparison. Sutter is known for his durability. 4 of the last 5 seasons he played 80 or more games. |

Booth was pretty durable before he showed up in Van too - you might need to read the back and forth with Codes1087 and I - in order to fully understand what I meant...
btw, your face is stupid you stinky jerk

Ballard was considered durable, we acquired him when he was still rehabbing and it all went down hill from there.
when Willie Mitchell left the Canucks to sign with the Kings, I thought his career was done, went on to win the Stanley cup and he is still quite effective.
I remember talking to a goalie about deflections off dmen that end up in the back of the net. he looked at me funny and said, the dman isn't trying to deflect the puck into the net... just as much as nobody is trying to get hurt out there....
bad luck with injuries is just bad luck. maybe some guys are more durable, but a puck in the face usually causes some damage and a puck on the side of the ankle or leg where there is minimum protection often leads to injury.
we might be able to p/u McDavid for cheap, seems pretty injury prone. |

the good and bad of vrbata is he won't be missed because he hasn't done much, so he should still be on the move, but won't generate the return he would have gotten last summer.
Hamhuis back and healthy might end up getting another contract with the Canucks, just hope it is the least amount of term possible because all of a sudden he is on the trading block and he starts showing well.

I think it would be a very difficult sell. Hamhuis isn't like most players. He isn't the type to party and chase skirt while on the road. Most players would love a few months away from the wife and kids but he is a different cat. |

No, I don't think they can make the playoffs, and I think they can do just as well the rest of the way without Vrbata and Hamhuis. I'd also sell high on Hansen, and I'd try and move Higgins and Prust as well. I would retain salary on pending UFA's to get the best return possible, and let the players here know they're playing for their futures.
I just can't stand the losing. Losing is for losers. Are you a loser? WOW - 1970vintage
Unfortunately in this league you have to be real bad before you can be really good.
Otherwise you are the St Louis Blues.
