You sir, might be 100% right. But here's the thing, that NTC. I totally understand asking Hamhuis to waive it, but do you really think Hansen wants to go somewhere else?

I can't say he wants to move anymore than I can say he wants to stay.
But i don't see why not.
Trade him to another team where he might get a chance to go far in the playoffs, or where he'll get an increased role.
Doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.

Duncan Kieth has the most team friendly contract in the league, it is what is called an outlier my man. AAV of top4 dman I'd wager is a 4-6 mil, top 2 6-9 - neem55
You just took the fun out of my fun fact...
D Keith is #20 on the NHL Salary List for defenseman. Seabrook is #13. Only one Dman making $9m, no Dman making $8m, and six making $7m plus.
The only outliers are the overly paid defenseman on the canucks. |

A competitive spark-plug, Olli Juolevi is a complete, all-around defenceman that can hem the opposition in their own end or make things difficult for the opposition at home; either way, he puts the pressure on and lays it on thick. A strong and balanced skater, he can rush the puck through the neutral zone with ease or backcheck with haste. Uses his size to his advantage, but knows his physical limits and plays within them. Instead of playing overly physical, he makes his presence felt by exhibiting his high-end playmaking ability and puck possession play. All-in-all, a well-rounded blueliner who thrives under pressure and can be trusted in all situations. (Curtis Joe, EP 2016) - See more at: http://www.eliteprospects...6391#sthash.zP3zC6by.dpuf |

Edler is listed as #36 for Dmen...which actually isn't terrible and kinda where i would place him in ranking (as in not a top 30/true #1 D, but in the second tier). |

I hope not...this draft is loaded with potential first line forwards. I'd be happy with Matthews, The Finns, Tkachuck, McLeod or even Nylander. He is quite a bit bigger than his smurf brother. We can grab a D with our second 1st rounder (Hamhuis trade) and our high 2nd round pick |

If we draft #7, i imagine Mathews, TwinFinns, Tkachuck and Nylander are gone.
Along with Chychurn. |

There's only $500,000 separating #20 to #36 so I wasn't arguing player positioning.
My point to Neem was his wager on average salary for NHL Dman was a bit off with $6m - $9m for top two. I don't think you can have an average with a high end of $9m when only one player in the league is making $8m+. The average for top two is probably like $5.5m - $6.5m.
I know Edler is top two on the canucks and he definitely plays the hard minutes of a top two. But I've always criticized Edler for his lack of consistency and that for me has booted him out of that elite top two Dman category. Bieksa plays a top two role on Anaheim but I don't consider him a legit top pairing. |

I know, i wasn't arguing with you.
I think the comment of top 2 dman salary is more intended to be what they would get on the free market today (ie what they're worth) more than what they are making today based on salaries signed in the past.
I feel the same way about Edler as you listed above... |

 Understood.
When I wrote that outliers line I was ready to get blasted. I know the topic of overpaid canuck defenseman was Nuckers thing and it caused a bit of a rift on this page so wasn't sure how it would be taken.
TBH I'm tired of waiting for Edler to be what I thought he was going to be. I think he makes big money in comparison to others and I think there's a better deal out there. So if the return is more than fair I say trade him too.

You mean we would be worst than bottom 7 ? I don't get the part where the team isn't willing to try different options . |
