Ek has stated Gagner has played "exceptionally well" ... In all seriousness, has he? I didn't get to catch either of the two weekend games.
- arichardson22

I dont think he has. He has played just OK in my opinion. He is certainly noticeable with the puck on his stick, but has a low success rate on the chances he takes. He had a nice play on a secondary assist to keep the puck in the zone and he made a couple moves to get the puck on holtby that went unfinished.

The crosses right into a defenders skate just annoy me maybe

Well, he seems to have trouble catching passes, but he did pull a few cute dipsy-doos again the Rangers. Other that that, he makes Ghost look like Eric Lindros when it comes to board battles.

I thought he's played well recently. I wouldn't say "exceptionally well" but he seems to be doing a lot more of the little things that he wasn't known for prior.

According to Ek, the blues have been scouting him. While they also just lost Pietrangelo to IR. Gagner + defensman ?

AV should let this go. Guys throw punches like that all the time. If Simmonds doesn't catch him square in the jaw, I think the whole thing is nothing more than a minor incident. Funny that he doesn't address his captain's cross check to Simmonds' head, which led to the punch.

Both guys (frank)ed up and unfortunately one was injured.

- funmaster18

Exactly. That was a vicious cross check to simmonds and he's not talking about that is he?

Is Gagner + Streit enough to get one of Barbashev or Fabbri?

At deadline prices with us selling I don't know why that wouldn't get you Barbashev.

The problem is that that is a TON of cap for the Blues to take on.

I don't think Crosby is dumb enough to cross check Wayne Simmonds in the head.

Hate that McDonagh got hurt, but the reality is, his careless and dangerous use of the stick started the whole thing.

I mean, the idea that McDonagh got his stick up to "protect himself" (as Ranger announcers described it) is soft peddling what actually happened on the play.

its a joke that nothing is said of a crosscheck to the head. I don't blame Simmonds for being pissed at all.

Then what would you want? Aside from those 2 (I'm assuming Parayko isn't in play), there's not a whole ton to like in the cupboard.

That's being soft peddled as the cross check was McDonagh "protecting himself".

I don't recall the rule that says it's cool to cross check someone in the head because you don't want someone finishing a check on you. It was a horsepoop play by McDonagh and he paid for it.

Yes, they would be looking at Medvedev over Streit if they wanted one of our dmen.

But I don't thinK Gagner + Medvedev gets you much of anything. Again, there's not a whole lot of B-type prospects on St. Louis. If AP is out, I figured they'd want more of an "impact" guy like Streit.

So since we are looking to the future, both goalies are UFA next season. Is Mason worth about 6 million? Because that is probably about where he will be.
Top 10 goalie cap hits:
1. Henrik Lundqvist UFA G New York Rangers 33 $8,500,000
2. Sergei Bobrovsky UFA G Columbus Blue Jackets 27 $7,425,000
3. Pekka Rinne UFA G Nashville Predators 33 $7,000,000
4. Tuukka Rask UFA G Boston Bruins 28 $7,000,000
5. Carey Price UFA G Montreal Canadiens 28 $6,500,000
6. Braden Holtby UFA G Washington Capitals 26 $6,100,000
7. Ryan Miller UFA G Vancouver Canucks 35 $6,000,000
8. Corey Crawford UFA G Chicago Blackhawks 31 $6,000,000
9. Cory Schneider UFA G New Jersey Devils 29 $6,000,000
10. Ben Bishop UFA G Tampa Bay Lightning 29 $5,950,000

Chatting about prospects earlier, it is easy to forget about NAK. Really curious to see what role he develops into when he turns pro.
