I agree Paul Coffey should not have his number in the rafters, but the same could said about Jagr. He has been gone much longer than he was here.
It is next to impossible these days to spend a full career in one location. Too much money to be made for the player. On the other side of the equation, teams must deal with a salary cap and are more willing to trade players.
I just think it should be just as tough to have your number retired as it is to get into the HOF. - Thunderbolt
I agree as well. Crosby will, not sure if anyone else really does. MAF is the Pens best goalie, but he doesn't carry that much weight across the league. |

Add in that he kept us in the ranger series last year as well. Like it or not MAF is arguably the franchises all time goalie, you don't just trade that on a whim for a plug. I think Murray is legit but he doesn't even have 5 nhl games and jarry has 0. Yet let's risk every thing and trade MAF. I have no issue bring Murray up and splitting games pretty evenly but knee jerk reactions aren't going to help. - Reverend Killtaker
I don't think anyone wants to trade him just to trade him... atleat I don't. I know fleury is good just have had some bad games as of late. he is our n1 goalie and that is how it is. BUT IF murry could replace fleury and we wouldn't suffer that much fallback I would trade him without a second thought. |

1. I like Sund as a 4th line center or wing or even 3rd line. Maybe even at Kunitz spot as a try out to see if he works well with sid. And he is good friend with Horny.
2. Phil is good just not as good as we believed but I KNOW he will get better as time goes on as he is in a favorable posistion now as 2nd line right wing with Hags as left and Malkin as center. He WILL phil the net!
3. Fleury will get the start and I hope to god he plays like he have done most of the year. Maybe his concusion is catching up to him?
4. Sid is on fire atm. He CAN even win the art ross and rocket richard if he keeps up this pace and if Kane plays like he have done earlier years and don't go on another scoring streak.
oh and you forgot the T in Tsunami - martox
Been waiting all season on Kessel. I think he's a bad fit here and hasn't been what was sold to the fans. |

That same logic can be applied to Kessel and Sprong. Kessel hasnt been that great and has bad games but Sprong shows some promise. The trade MAF crowd is banking on hope for Murray. So IF Sprong can replace Kessel, why not move him too. |

if he could play greater than kessel then sure. I would do it. since it could get us more younge pieces or maybe a good defensmen. but I have far from given up on kessel. he has been better aand better since sullivan and even better since hagelin. |

Everyone has been better since Sullivan. If Sprong could get 15-20 goals and Kessel could bring back a Shattenkirk level Dman+ Id do it.
I just dont see Kessel as a game changer. He's not as deadly on the ice as expected and his cap hit along with what it took to acquire him wasn't a good deal for what he's done so far. |

I wouldn't say Kessel got demoted last night, it was pretty clear they tried to even out the lines a little bit. Get some more skill for Porter to play with (he's their second most offensively talented center right now, like it or not), and try to get Hagelin and Kessel going.
Kessel snapped a five game point streak last night, 3 goals, 3 assists over those 5 games.
15 points since Sullivan was hired. 6 goals and 9 assists in 23 games. That's still not a pace commensurate with his paycheck, but it's better than what was. And 62/71/81 has been a great line over the past few weeks, which means the points will come. |

So is Sundqvist here to stay? I saw he got dropped pretty hard last night. Hope it works out for him. |

He's just trying to swim right now so it's hard to judge him.
He'll be given every chance to win the 4th line center role next year, though like some other guys he really doesn't fit the mold of what they're trying to do right now. |

I think our lack of size and physicality was the most notable thing about the road trip. Tampa and Florida both pretty much had there way with our bottom six physically, something that will be even more evident in a 7 game series. Kunitz remains the only person on the team who actually throws hits. Hornqvist tries hard and is pretty good on the fore check but if he actually threw his weight around someone might want to fight him. |

If he's not hurt after getting drilled last night (I don't rem seeing him back on the ice after it) I think he will be sent down after the injuries start coming back. He'll return with a note on things to work on this season and the offseason and hopefully he will challenge for a roster spot in camp. Right now it's a chance for him to see what it's like along with a valuable coaching/learning opportunity which is good and in his favor. |

Fleury has two bad games after having an amazing season up until this point and Zatkoff has one good game, and now all of a sudden Flower is expendable because we have Murray in WBS. We, as a collective group, are re-damn-diculous - Victoro311
we dont want him gone because of 2 bad games. yes he is part of the reason we are even playoff contenders right now. but any goalie that put up half way decent numbers would have us in this same position.
i like fluery and always have. but like someone on here said earlier...when hes good, hes good. when hes bad, hes awful. he consistently lays an egg in the most important games.
but any way.....what a (frank)ing game last night. we never.....collectively.....see that happen as pens fans. |
