Of course you liked him. What's not to like. Fastest skater on the team, couple shots a game, couple hits a game, accepts a role, brings effort and energy every game, will drop them, works the greasy areas, is a veteran and is one of a few humans who's ever scored 17 goals in an NHL season.
But da guy wit da cups don't dig him. Gotta defer. - Mr Ricochet
You're right...but you don't trade "that" guy so that Mashinter can get ice time once again. Once Panik was acquired, that should have meant the end of Mash's time in the bigs. Team speed takes a hit when Mashinter dresses. |

And BTW, does anyone think that Mash will be in the lineup come playoff time? Not a Chance. Regular season no problem. Playoffs he will be watching. - bonecrusher27
I do think there's a decent chance he'll be in the lineup come playoff time, but not with the Blackhawks. |

Right, but if Rasmussen doesn't play LW throughout the season, it would be easy for Q to justify starting Mash over the Moose.
The key at this point is getting that true 1st line LW, so that Shaw moves back to the bottom 6...and once Kruger comes back there isn't room for Sekac or Mashinter. Just incredible that we are having this conversation in February. - MexicoHawk
I've noticed Rasmussen looks to be getting faster on the ice and playing more physical
Would like to see what his line could do with anyone but Mashinter
The good thing to me is Rasmussen looks to be improving as the year goes on
Lastly don't know how you evaluate Sekac based on such a small sample size? |

I think what Mex is saying, It's pretty obvious that teams that win and go deep in the playoffs roll 4 lines. It's pretty obvious to all of us and even Q that mash cannot do that, Because when he's in that line plays five minutes. So at least if we let Sekac play five or 10 games straight . Q could see if he is the solution on The fourth line . I really don't think at this point Q would be able to say yes or no. if you still doesn't like him get rid of him and try somebody else. Or let the fourth line play regular minutes . In game seven verse LA how many shifts did Bohlig zus and Stieg get. If he wasn't going to play him anyway why didn't you dress Brookbank . |

They were the ONLY team that were still talking to Bowman regarding a deal including Bickell AFTER he got sent down. Ronny Francis is a smart guy, he's not fooled on Bickell, but they want a certain Hawk prospect and might be willing to accept Bickell's contract. BUT, and this is a HUGE but, it will cost the Hawks in other ways. For someone like Francis to take on Bickell for one season will mean a high draft pick or another up and coming player...which is why it is virtually impossible to move him. - MexicoHawk
Wonder if an expanded trade with Carolina is a possibility-- that would include (somehow) E Stall coming back as a rental-- that would give us a surplus of 1C's and thought I read that he would play wing? Thats the type of top 6 veteran player that would be worth the rental price to enhance chances for a Cup repeat- more so than a Drouin trade |

And how does Q describe Mash as having "speed", that's flat out inaccurate - MexicoHawk
Q says he "gives us some speed." That isn't saying he's fast. Slow is a speed, too. |

“He plays the right way, he plays simple, gives us some speed, and he’s reliable,” Joel Quenneville said. “He’s safe in his ways, but he still has that - MexicoHawk[physical] presence we talk about. As a teammate you like the presence.”
Just incredible, really. Mashinter may have become "safe" in Q's eyes, but that's largely based on 5-7 minutes of ice time against the opposition's worst lines. He does play a simple game, but at the cost of any O-Zone possession time, or momentum, and let's face it, that's what you are looking for from a traditional 4th line...10-12 shifts a night where they can change the momentum in a game with an aggressive shift. Mashinter is NOT that guy. He's had two fights all year and one of them was used by the Canucks to wake up and get interested in beating the Hawks. He's NOT scaring anyone out there, and he's not any kind of consistent physical force. He's a slow winger, that goes north/south, desperately hoping not to make a mistake (which he usually does once or twice a game).
And how does Q describe Mash as having "speed", that's flat out inaccurate, Mashinter biggest problem is that he does not possess adequate speed to play in the NHL, and he's a huge liability if that line turns over the puck as he cannot "stop and start" very well.
The Hawks trade Garbutt so that Mashinter can play 5 minutes a night? STUPID. Stan and Q have got to consistently be on the same page, because when they are not, this crap happens. Q obviously doesn't like Sekac, so a message is sent and the team suffers.
I am perhaps making too much out of the whole "Mashinter thing", but the Hawks lost in 2014 primarly because they became a 3, sometimes 2 line team for much of the playoffs. The Hawks core were on fumes in the LA series because all season long Q stuck with a veteran past his "due date" in Zus and a "project" on the 4th line in Bollig. Both hurt the Hawks during the playoffs, and you could see it coming. If this Mashinter experiment is allowed to continue much longer, it could have HUGE ramifications come playoff time. Certainly when Kruger returns it appears to make Mashinter persona non grata, but who knows with Q? Let Sekac play and learn the game...or bring up McNeil/Ross and let their NHL games develop...anything but this guy...HE DOESN'T BELONG IN THE NHL, that's why he's a 27 year old ROOKIE!
Can't we just find a Russian MMA guy like Arlovski and dress him. All he needs to do is dress in a uniform and sit on the bench. Another team tries something we send him out to knock someone out. Simple:

4 hours before the game and I've already seen more fans with Hawks sweaters than Stars sweaters. Three Panarin sweaters, one of which was his SKA one. The kid is just getting more and more popular - maria_wyeth

After watching the whole video I thought mcdonagh was faking but I don't believe he came back but after he cross checked Simmons he should of been ready for a response. - Abadseed
McDonagh with the WWF play of the year. If he isn't suspended for his cross-check to the head, then Wideman needs to play the next game, because there is no justice in this league. I swear Vince McMahon is running this league, and Bettman is just his puppet. (Well he is anyway) |

alright bring on the poop storm.
I do not think Mash is that terrible. Against the Avs he looked solid to me (granted in person and not on tv). Still, he goes out and registers 2-3 hits in the first period and always comes out on fire particularly on his first shift.
I don't like that he/ the fourth line is significantly diminished in ice time during the last half of the game. However if he can get some legs under him and some momentum he may end up being a solid role player down the stretch and maybe into the playoffs if he can learn to play better defense (smarter).
I trust Q enough to look at the improvement of Mash and not go berserk when he's in the lineup. Q wants this 4 point game bad. Playing Rozy again and keeping Sved/Scuds out says that Q believes this is our best lineup to go with for a Victory.
Damn I miss Kruger. |

Ironic you mention Andrei. I saw a no-name guy they picked out of a Sam's Club a few months before the fight knock him out (original fighter had to back out). We couldn't believe it. Brett Rogers beat him and then Andrei actually played real Russian roulette. Sad.

Can't argue with Kucherov but I'll always have tons of respect for Johnson for playing in the SCF with a broken wrist. Put that kid's heart in TT and you have your top 6 LW until the cap says move him in 3-4 years. - Mr Ricochet
In addition, Johnson had the highest number of points in last year playoffs, even with broken wrist, with Kane being second. In reality all three triplets are good. Do not understand Stamkos hype and drama, he did not reliver much in playoffs, think Tampa would be better off letting him go to Toronto and enjoy his high pay there like Saad is enjoying his in Columbus, and hold onto all triplets, Hedman and Bishop.
