The draft now has a life of its own. It has just as much interest as the playoffs. We have spent 5/8 s of the season talking draft and draft picks. We seldom talk about the cup

Hamhuis won't like the media as we get closer to tdl...
- hillbillydeluxe

He also won't like that fact that he will be boo'd when he coems to town in another jersey if he doesn't waive. Fun fact we literally ran GMMG out of town, he recently moved to Victoria.

The biggest problem I have with Benning is not moving fast enough.

Before you jump all over this comment hear me out.

The time to move a 31 goal stop gap was after he scored 31 goal. Old guy one more year on contract. Did nothing in playoffs.

Weber comes off being traded and scores 11 as a Dman should have been traded.

Hamhuis Burrows , two aging players should have been moved last year. I imagine we will have the same conversation in the last year of the Sedins contract also.

Hank has looked old the last couple of weeks . He should be resting, he looks injured. And tired. He went 2-12 in the FO last night. Shut him down for a month.

The kids are alright. The only offence last night seemed to come from Vey Bae Bo Sutter and Hutton .

WD needs to trust the youngsters more.

Hindsight Vantel, hindsight. You know he can't make those moves in the offseason. Assuming he had a crystal ball and realized Vrbata would go from team MVP to an absolute plug, fans wouldn't have access to that crystal ball. People would drive him out of town with pitch forks he he traded the teams best player for a draft pick. This example applies to your other suggestions as well

Agree on Weber

Not Hamhuis. Bob Mackenzie's said Hamhuis will get a ton of interest and bring a nice return. Suggesting a 1st and top prospect or young roster player. Going as far to suggest Hamhuis to Washington for a 1st and Galiev. Be nice if we could do a 2nd and Madison Bowey

The Vrbata one was easy to spot. He got most of his points in the first half playing with the twins , his production fell when he got moved. He did nothing in the playoffs . He should have been gone in the summer. That's not hindsight.

Yeah for Hamhuis a D prospect would be great. Hopefully we can get the pick also.

I can't believe how big the draft is getting. It is turning into a year long event

He was very productive on the second line. You foresaw that his shooting % would fall off a cliff? Were you saying they should trade him last summer? No. Everyone was saying lets dump him for a kings ransom at the TDL after he puts up 20 goals. You CANT trade your MVP before the season starts. That's pure lunacy. Management has to at least try to make the playoffs (or pretend).

I mostly agree with your point about moving slow but at the same time, I think that's the pace of the league nowadays. Trades are way down unless its TDL day or draft day. It's hard to go fast when 29 other GM's are all going much slower.

He put up most of the numbers with the twins.

What I seen in the second half of last year is exactly why I was saying trade him last year. I knew there was no chance he was coming back as a top guy.

If he was your MVP you have a team in very rough shape.

Some teams still love to trade like Pitts LA and the Ducks

I'll give you your last point...he shouldn't be any teams MVP but he was. He had a good season. It sucks that his value has plummeted but I don't think it could have been avoided. This is the reason I want Hansen gone. His stock will never be higher. But that's a tough trade for Benning to make. He is in his prime and becoming a leader on the team

Hansen is my favourite Canuck but he is 29 and will never be as good as he is this year. I would sell high and miss the guy

Agreed. But it won't happen. I'd be happy with a 1st round pic which is likely what we could gain. Benning would be crucified for the trade

We are losing to the CBJs with the vets and the only excitement came from the young guys
- VANTEL

Id rather watching them loosing with young guys who try instead of vets who float. People would be more likely to get behind a team in they believe in a plan. At least I would.

Very good point and we could find a similar replacement in free agency so we arent rolling youth on every line.
