No run support. Their goalie played very aggressively, challenging the shooters all night. Gave the shooters no space in the shootout.

I think we are going to see Sutter back with the Sedins for faceoffs.

If ever JB's offered a first for Vrbata, I hope he jumps at the chance.

Saturday night should be a fun game.

If they are going to string any wins together, this is the lineup to do it with, as healthy as it has been all season.

I don't want the tank, but I expect we will miss the playoffs.

You're right he didnt give shooters much, I worried where the advantaged lied on the rookie goalie. He had no prior NHL shootout experience, but that also is tougher for the shooters to read I am sure.

That being said, Sven really made a nice move to open him up and just slid it wide. The confidence is really growing with him

Sven has been battling and playing well.

Too many missed opportunities.

They played well in the third, just couldn't finish, if we could see some more scoring, there is a slim chance they can make a push... just need some bounces to go our way.

At this point I would take a 2nd for Vrbata. I thought he had it in him to turn things around. Hammer will still get at least a 1st if he waives.

We definitely will not be offered a first for Vrbata and I'd be surprised if we were offered a second. Stupid Benning.

Am I the only one that noticed The goal Miller gave up was due to his teammate colliding with him? He couldn't get across the crease as Tanev obstructed his lead leg. I was fairly drunk so it's possible I'm confused

If this was just one game, I wouldn't worry about it. My concern is that the pattern is getting very consistent.

And yes, giving Markstrom more starts would be an excellent solution but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. I figured the "closer" idea is a way to still get Miller his starts and his minutes while also giving the team a chance to win. He'd even get the "W" if Markstrom did the job.

- Carol Schram

I don't believe in the "Miller late game collapse". I think the team playing in front of him just isn't that good, and they sit back waiting to get scored on. Call it player personnel (hang it on the GM) or on ice decisions (hang it on the coach). Again, I'd rather the team moved forward without Miller, but I don't see this as his "fault".

I think trading Vrbata improves the team - it gets one of Virtanen/McCann in the lineup every night (or both for that matter). I'd try and re-sign Hamhuis in the $3.5m range. If not, I'd trade him too for whatever I could get.

I think the pass was supposed go cross-seam to Wennberg but Hartnell stopped it. I am pretty sure Miller was thinking the same and pushed off to hard to recover on the shortside shot. Some cameras show that his angle on the shot was way off, gave 1/3 of the net away

It would also open a top-6 and PP spot for someone. Keeping Bo-Sven to build chemistry worked, why not add Virtanen/Etem in and let them work it out

The Canucks played ok last night but they lacked energy. I suspect if they had Virtanens intensity they would have won the game. Even if the kid isn't scoring he does tilt the ice in the right direction

not sure how him getting an asset in free agency for nothing, then that asset being worth a possible 1st/2nd makes him stupid?

The biggest problem I have with Benning is not moving fast enough.

Before you jump all over this comment hear me out.

The time to move a 31 goal stop gap was after he scored 31 goal. Old guy one more year on contract. Did nothing in playoffs.

Weber comes off being traded and scores 11 as a Dman should have been traded.

Hamhuis Burrows , two aging players should have been moved last year. I imagine we will have the same conversation in the last year of the Sedins contract also.

Hank has looked old the last couple of weeks . He should be resting, he looks injured. And tired. He went 2-12 in the FO last night. Shut him down for a month.

The kids are alright. The only offence last night seemed to come from Vey Bae Bo Sutter and Hutton .

WD needs to trust the youngsters more.

Then you can't tell the fanbase you're trying to make the playoffs with a straight face. Its more than putting butts in seats, it's people watching on TV. We blame FA for wanting to be competitve, but Rogers also has an a$$load of money tied up in this team... and you can be sure they DGAF about a championship.

Agreed, but for moving slow I would imagine FA has something to do with that and Hammer/Burrows NTC has something else to do with it. FA wants to make playoffs no matter what, I am surprised he isn't forcing Bennings hand to trade 1st rounder etc for useless players. Hammer even now doesn't seem to want to waive and would prefer that Benning buys at TDL to try and make one last push with us. I highly doubt he waives, not much of a franchise guy. I will honestly lose all respect for Hammer if he refuses to waive. Benning not wanting to trade him to try for playoffs is one thing, can't fault hammer for that. But not wanting to waive because he is delusional about the talent of this team? Or just doesn't want to waive because we aren't resigning him when the time comes? he knows full well if he wants to continue playing hockey he will have to pack up and move after this season. Why not waive? Not like you need to move your family for Mar-June.

Sure, but they still need people watching the product. You keep losing to the CBJs of the league and people stop watching

I read at the beginning of last year that Hamhuis didn't like the way the Canucks handled the Bieksa trade. I forget exactly what it said but it made me think he would not waive to give them satisfaction. We will see how it plays out

Rogers money is tied up into the building itself, not the actual franchise as far as I know. Decisions that have an impact on the team are directly on FA as well as TL and JB.
