Actually, it's the government that causes cancer, it's a known fact that in the 70's during the Cold War, they created a virus that they purposefully exposed civil service workers to, to help along human evolution that through hybridization. The virus was a vector for alien DNA taken from the Roswell crash victim just in case you were wondering. - DariusKnight

I just seen General Fanager telling Carol that Canucks still need to move about 2.5 mil before Hank and Hammer can come back . Something needs to be done pronto. |

Even after the Prust move?
What's the deal with waiving, the Canucks still have half that players salary count against the cap?
On a site note, with Horvat, Sven, Vey, Biega, Hutton, McCann, Etem and Virtanen on the roster, i could have never foreseen us having to juggle the cap limit |

If the draft was today we would be drafting 7 th and taking a Finnish or Russian Dman |

I think they put him on waivers was to see if anyone wanted him for free. They tried to trade him and found no takers. His remaining salary is about 1 mil dollars and it seems like no one wants him at that price without giving up picks.
They had a lot of injuries so bringing players in drove the price up |

Sure, but we only brought in/up.
Vey 1 mill.
Etem 850,
Biega 600,
2,450,000.
Minus
Higgins 2.5
Prust 2.5.
5 million at half, 2.5.
Still don't get it |

I don't think they were on LTIR only injury reserved. Hamhuis was on LTIR but not the rest . So their salaries never came off the books
They also brought in guys like Pedan Zalewski Shinkaruk Grenier Gaunce even if short term if the player is not on LTIR it eats up cap |

Ok, but isn't it all relative?
Bringing up those players hit the cap, but sending them back down would have reversed the initial burden.
Also, if most of the injured players weren't on LTIR, then how did we not go over the cap in the first place by calling up all those players and while still maintaining Higgins and Prust's 5 mill cap burden? Hamhuis is only making 4.5?

The way i see it, when the entire team was healthy at the start of the season, i.e with Sutter and Hamhuis playing (7.8 cap hit), we were cap compliant with the likes of Higgins and Prust in the line-up (5Mill).
Now, somehow we are 2.5 million (?) over the cap and yet we replaced both Higgins and Prust with cheaper options (Vey, Etem and Biega) that still comes out cheaper then the above two players at half their salary...? |

I think when you send a player to the minors, you only get a savings of around $950,000 against the cap. The rest of their salary still counts against the cap. So, for instance, Higgins' cap hit is normally $2.5M. However, because he is in the minors, the Canucks are incurring a $1.55M hit against their cap.
Not sure if that clears things up or not... |

I also know a few times this year I went to General Fanager and found Canucks and a few teams over the cap . When asked GF said it was under emergency call up. Many days this year Canucks were over the cap |

I thought players can be retroactively put on LTIR. Sbisa and Sutter should qualify. That will give some cap relief. This where Gilman was at his best. |

Yeah. It seems like they have someone at the helm who knows how to play the numbers as we sit and scratch our heads |

its almost pointless to take a dman because they wont be ready for 2-3 years. we need you young guys that can play now. I hope we end up with the russian if were taking a dman top 10. Id also hope we can get Kale Clague in the 2nd and sean day in the 3rd. |
