they have 13 points in 2 months.

13. 2 months. and outside of Price they have every single key player in the lineup and have for most of the season.

There are always impuslive GMs who overpay at the deadline. I can see Bergevin unloading a guy like Markov or Plekanec for an okay return

Bergevin LOVES his core players, he is not trading them.

Bergevin's MO when it comes to trading: Pick up 3-4 AHL defensemen and 4th liners and say his "you can never have enough depth" speech, and call it a day.

I'm not a genius when it comes to economics, but I'll still say that Geoff Molson probably isn't interested in burying millions in contracts to St-Johns Newfoundland, especially with the state of the Canadian dollar at the moment and the high probability that extra playoffs income will be non existent this year.

Not to mention the NHLPA barking at them.

Apparently he doesn't care about missing the playoffs at 3M$ per home game

it's not even about that. these guys have serious term left after this season. not many teams have $6 million in cap space floating around next season for guys who are not going to be in your top 6 or top 4.

(frank), so depressing.

In fairness to Bergevin, I'm sure he knew they were a little bit challenged offensively. But was willing to take the gamble that defence and goaltending would bail them out one more time this season... None of us could imagine how l low they'd go without Price for an extended period of time.
