What if RJ retires? Guy has to feel somewhat done or embarrassed not scoring for a full year. I know the money is on the table, but if we keep RJ next year, you think he has to know we have no issue sitting an aging veteran worth that cap night in and night out. |

They are sellers, it's february. Their sellers - Just5
You've got to think that Streit is on his way out with the emergence of Ghost. Only way he stays is if they want to keep him for leadership and to mentor the d men coming up. Otherwise, i think he could fetch a pretty good haul in a pick or prospects. |

People keep saying Streit needs to possibly mentor but what's wrong with MDZ as a mentor? He's taken tremendous strides this season as establishing himself as our lead D-Man imho. I think he has enough years under his belt to tell these kids a thing or two. |

If the MDZ-ghost pair is working. Which I still have my doubts about that, but why not dress medvedev to pair with gudas? - Just5
I think Hak made the right call splitting up Ghost and Medvedev since they were all over the place, but I agree that Medvedev-Gudas makes a lot of sense if Ghost is going to stay with MDZ. |

I think he would only be a 13-14 forward next season. You have to start taking steps forward and the Phantoms do have guys that fit into a bottom 6 roll. Bardreau, Leier, Martel, Cousins and Laughton all can play in the bottom 6 and fill some rolls. I think the Flyers have to start trying to get some guys on ELC into the lineup so they can use money elsewhere(top line scoring winger, 2nd line playmaker) |

$1.5m in dead space for 17-18 will not be an issue. An Umberger buyout would allow the Flyers to upgrade their top 6 for 16-17 and I'll be surprised if Hextall doesn't take advantage of it. - Feanor
No doubt the Flyers could handle it, but what kind of upgrade are we talking about, and is that upgrade going to have such an effect on next year's team, to be worth carrying that dead cap space in 17-18?
Can they not use that cap space gained by not having the dead cap space to improve the team in 17/18 when the team is further along in the retooling of the roster?
I don't know what Hextall is going to do. |

I agree completely. It's just we have youngsters knocking on the door (Cousins, Straka, Leier) that I want to see get a consistent look. Plus if we decide to hang onto Weal after this year he adds to the mix. And say we do get a top 5 pick and select one of the more talented wingers, we have that prospect to add. And who knows what Konecny will do in camp next year. Gotta make room for the young guys sometime. And i didn't even mention our d prospects |

I would say that is more a product of the bottom 6 not producing. I think Manning does his job and role well. - J35Bacher
Only if his job is to take the easiest minutes on the defense after Ghost and accomplish nothing with them. Manning's ice time has been evenly divided between the top 6 and bottom 6 forwards. He just doesn't have enough skill to produce offense at the NHL level.

Yeah, what if he gives up $4,500,000 for no reason. |

to be fair, this is only his first NHL season. hard to say definitively he doesn't have the skill to produce at this level, though the cards do seem stacked against him |

I would be actively shopping him too. He doesn't have many more chances at a Cup run and he can help a playoff team on the bottom pairing. |

Manning is what he is. He's a 6/7 depth defenseman in this league at best. |

hopefully its just to let kid collect his thoughts....I can't see sitting a young player for Umberger either....If its more then a game, get him back to Lehigh Valley - landros 2
I have no prob with Laughton getting a game off, my problem is wasting a lineup spot on RJ |

I thought he would play better coming back. Hope he has a great February so if they move him he has big value to a playoff team. |

Hextall would be foolish to not cash in on Streit now. They will have money to sign a vet D presence for next year if they feel the need to do so. Get another 1st and make some noise this draft.

We know Umberger is shot. Any of the following would be an upgrade: Weal, Cousins, Leier etc... They are not a contender this season, it makes no sense keeping a 33 year old has been in the lineup |

How is Stolarz doing? Would they bring him up if the back up is actually going to play? or would they being up Labarera and park him on the bench until Neuvy is back? |
