Really?! Little strong having Nashville in the comment don't you think?

I think Nashville is a very good drafting team.

You need time to allow them to develop before the impact players step right into the lineup.
- golfingsince

You missed the part about sucking bad enough to draft the impact players.

When we played them last week we were fighting them for a wildcard spot

They've looked pretty solid since acquiring the #1 center they've always needed

At least on defence, I'd kill to get any one of their top D prospects on the Milwaukee Admirals. I follow Nashville and their farm teams closely and the coach down there really knows how to develop D-men. Josi is a prime example of one of their prospects blossoming. Which is why Jones ultimately was expendable.

Yeah you need to suck badly for a year or two, not 12. You just need to draft reasonably for the period before you suck badly. Look at the Blackhawks, they missed on quite a few drafts before nailing it with Toews and Kane.

They are 1 point ahead of Minny for the last playoff spot

And one point behind Colorado, my point being is they look like a team nobody would want to play. Also Claimin that Tampa is a weak team is kind of silly considering they made it to the STCF last season.

It's really a culmination of several years of good drafting, not just top three picks, as you just said. But still, you need a couple top picks and you need to select well when you get them.

You just really can't win without a good 1/2 center combo. I know you need a bunch of pieces but it's so important.

When did I say they are weak teams? People love putting words into others mouth.

Don Said that Minny a team that went out and spent big money on UFAs are struggling to make the playoffs. I pointed out that other teams that draft well are struggling to make the playoffs this year too.

I never once said they are weak. This is a funny year.

The year after the Canucks went to the SCF they were out in 5 games, so don't expect to much from TB.

If Minny are hardly a playoff team by being on the outside by one point then it is fair for me to say Nashville are hardly a playoff team by being one point on the inside

Ah I see what you mean, yeah it is just getting more and more even in the league. But it is good, it think... maybe. I like the idea of win 2 pts and loss including so and ot 0 pts, it was on brady and Walker before I realized what was on and changed the channel. We'd really be in pumpkin mode if that was the case

More so if Stamkos doesn't get settled and Drouin lingers on

yeah it could be a problem. They look pretty darn good to me though, if TJ starts going again they could take 1st in the east no problem

Tampa's had a lot injuries to their forward group, and it shows in their offence, significantly down this year.

Between Roenick and Toews, (1988-2006) they drafted top 10 six times. The best they came away with was Marc Bell. They did get a few good players outside the top 10 ( Moreau, Seabrook) but damn there was no reason to suck for so long.

They did draft well outside of the first though, that's what set them up before Toews and Kane got there.

My bad, Ruutu was their best pick(or Dan Cleary). All I'm saying is that drafting higher isn't necessarily the answer. There are entire drafts where they basically hit on nothing, including the 10th and 11th picks overall. Hitting on a couple of top 5 picks if you haven't drafted well beforehand will only prolong the agony.

Check out their drafting from '79 to '88.
