The only thing I want to hear from Garth is Cappy has been replaced by a real coach or we just traded for a skilled and gritty forward. Anything else he can save the we have enough talent to win speech. - ses111
This ^^^ and maybe we got a depth dman for the playoff run.

It's not even remotely the same.
It would be nice if someone gave me $20. I do not expect someone to give me $20 and will not get upset when I don't get $20 from someone.
You are questioning why nobody gave you $20 and saying that you believe they owe you $20.
Does that simplify it?
Sure...Snow holding court and addressing the fans about the team would be nice. But I don't expect it to happen, it's not going to happen, and I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it. - eichiefs9
Your analogy makes no sense.........when im a paying member of a gym, and they decide to get rid of something, or add something, or raise rates, or whatever, as a paying customer you are notified. Im not upset im not hearing anything from SNow as i know it will be the same story. I think like his managing its bad business to be so distant from the fan base. ESPECIALLY when that fan base isnt really buying many tickets. As management you try and address the paying customers.

It doenst matter to him.........he doesnt feel Snow should say anything, nor should the paying fans expect it. |

You are not contractually bound to pay money to the Islanders in return for goods or a service, like you are to a gym. I am sure that when STH's have their rates raised (or lowered) that they are given a reason.
Also, the General Manager position is not a public relations position. It's a function put in place by ownership to manage and grow the organizations on-ice product in the NHL, the minors, and juniors/NCAA/etc...and to manage the cap. This does not require, directly or indirectly, any GM to have any interaction with the fan base. Garth Snow does not owe you, me, or anybody a single word. |

Do you really wanna hear the same BS from snow? It will only make your blood boil - Vukota
I think if he actually answered some of the questions that benning has answered over the last couple years it would be an interesting interview. Granted, I don't expect this to ever happen |

When you pay for season tickets, and the salesmen tell you on the phone, the isles are going to improve by adding this and that, and Snow will do this and that, you wanna hear from the GM whats happening. Without the fans, professional sports dont exist. When a company has shareholders which this somewhat emulates, the companies have quarterly meetings, discussing the direction of the firm and or the performance, and its future game plan. The paying fans are the shareholders, and the fact that the management is nowhere to be found, is bad business. PERIOD |

My question still remains: which other professional sports franchise in NA comes out and has something resembling a shareholder meeting?
Hint: the answer is none
You are demanding something that does not exist. |

I think you're missing my point........im not demanding anything. I think its bad business to be in the position the isles have been with such a disconnect to the fan base. Without the fans, they dont have this.......yet there has been zero communication about this teams plans going forward. |

You're right I'm sorry..you're not demanding it.
But still...you're saying it's bad business and you're seemingly upset with the Islanders for not doing this. My point is that this type of thing does not exist in sports anywhere. You are implying that this is an Islanders-specific problem and it just simply isn't.
Shareholders meetings aren't a good analogy because your money is not invested in the Islanders. You and I are consumers, not investors. You and I do not stand to lose tangible assets if the Islanders perform poorly. |

See above youtube clip. Im sorry my friend, but it does exist. Its bad business otherwise. Especially for a team looking to lure more fans in the doors.

My shareholder analogy i said was kind like a sports team. Obviously its not the same thing, but without the fans professional sports do not exist.

It's not even close to the same thing. Plus no business could exist without it's customers. Garth works for Wang, not the fans. |

Shanny had a presser before xmas. Charielli has been interviewed on TSN as have other GM's, recently. Cashman talks about the Yanks. Alderson about the Mets. Sather hasnt done one in a while but has given statements in the past. Jets/Giants GM's have quotes in the paper, frequently.
I think it's a bit rhetorical, he's not visible or accessable because he has no good news to report. THAT and the fact that the Isles dont get much press outside of the spoon fed info shared with Newsday.
This team has operated as a feifdom since Wang took over. No reason to think it will change until new owners take over.
