It's all about what is best for those players, the timing, and where the Flyers are in the season, . As I've stated multiple times, the Flyers are not ready to give up chasing the playoffs.
- MJL

They will be if they lose Wednesday.

This team is a one line team without Couturier, chasing the playoffs up hill with an anvil attached to them.

I agree. Austin and Keith's boy are unrealistic, but I'd love to land one of the Finns
- DaveofYork

The Finns will likely go ahead of Tkachuk. Dubios is the guy I would want if we get a top 10 pick but don't win the lottery.

If they get a top ten draft pick this season I'll be furious.

They've hit a wall the past two weeks, cry me a river--get back on the horse. It's officially the half-mark to the season. If they pack it in and fold up, I'll be very disappointed.

Nor should they as they are a professional team and they aren't mathematically eliminated yet.

I'd be ecstatic with a top ten pick. Making a run at the playoffs would be nice. Getting a top ten pick would be great

They're not going to pack it in, but with one half of the season in the books don't we have a pretty good idea on how the second half will go?

Well, in my defense I was only 4 in 1969, so my memory is suspect. And no, the massive scotch consumption has nothing to do with it!

That didn't start until at least 1970, right?

I agree.

Unless Hextall is able to make a deal the brings in young talent. Something that doesn't hurt the team now and is also part of the future.

Something like Laughton for Drouin.

That would help now and the future.

I, for one, was not talking a bout a deliberate 'tank', but they just don't have the guns, especially if they get a couple key injuries. They would drop like a rock

They're 46 games in, are 22nd in P% (i.e. they would get the 9th overall pick), and are facing the best team in the league on the road tomorrow.

If Couturier plays the last 35 games then that should help, but a top 10 pick has always been a likely outcome.

If the season ended today (without playing out games still in hand, etc) the Flyers would finish 7th to last and if they didn't win the lottery, according to the Mock you just posted would pick Alexander Nylander: http://www.mynhldraft.com...ofiles/Alexander-Nylander

That wouldn't suck.

Sarah Baicker is reporting that the Flyers have put in a call for a substitute goalie for practice today. Rumor is Mason is dealing with a minor issue after skipping practice earlier in the week & Neuvirth was reportedly limping badly after the game last night.

that would be an interesting situation, for sure. What if a member of the first line went down? ( not jinxing by mentioning a name)

Right now Tampa and NJ hold the wildcard spots. If they both win and Flyers lose they will be 10 pts behind Tampa and 9 behind NJ. Not to mention other teams they have to jump.

I know they have games in hand.

Trade deadline is Feb 29. If they are double digit pts about a week or two before the trade deadline, then I see no reason to be more a seller and look towards the future and draft. Not the playoffs.

After taking a deep data dive and studying copious amounts of numbers, I have come to the conclusion that the Flyers are more of a one line team right now.

Is the rule that you can use your Equipment Manager as your emergency goalie still in effect? Only in the NHL
