Thanks Bill. From what I saw last night, it was a game of .500 teams. It wasn't pretty, and our PK still has issues. Having Manning back in, and Umby, and White still playing didn't help the cause. In addition, the extended breaks seem to ruin any chance of a rhythm for the team to get into. Anyway, those late period goals are starting to become a bad habit. It looks like the team just quits when there is 4-5 minutes to go. I don't know if they just lack the energy to continue on, or if the team just doesn't have the talent, or if they start thinking about getting back to the locker room before the period ends. However, they have to keep their focus, and finish out the period. I would also work on the passing, and PK play every chance I would get. We have some good defensive forwards, so I don't know why the PK units keep getting torn apart. You would think that if those forwards are not going to contribute to the team scoring, the least that they could do is shine on special teams. - OrangeAndBlack1
The Flyers didn't quit effort wise last night. They played hard, just a victim of a bad bounce on a deflection. |

Well, I checked NHL 16, and aside from a one point (out of one hundred) advantage in checking, Gormley is the superior player. So yes. - BulliesPhan87

I've been asking for Kassian on these boards for along time now. He'd be a decent 3rd liner and be a huge upgrade over Matt Read as a net presence on the second unit. - SuperSchennBros
Not sure he'd be a decent 3rd liner. The guy has bounced around and he's had off ice issues. He's also had only one full season in the NHL.
I'd only have considered him because he's got something to prove, and could be a better fit than Umberger, White or VandeVelde.
Trouble is, when he was waived, they didn't have the cap room. I just think he's a potentially worthwhile reclamation project. |

That's how I feel.
I think he has more skill then white and Vandevelde and would be motivated. Also a big body and provides and edge.
Kind of how I feel about Drouin. I know people see the act and say stay away but if I could do something like Laughton and 3rd for Drouin, imagine how motivated he would be to stick it to Tampa. Plus he has a skill set we could use. |

I'd have very low expectations. I know he put up decent numbers in the full season and a half he was a regular, but there's got to be a reason teams have basically tossed him away since.
It's not as if he's an undervalued little guy. Kassian has all the attributes that coaches usually love-size, decent speed, bit of offensive ability.
And if the Flyers could flip Laughton and a 3rd rounder for Drouin, I'd have to say, I'd probably swing the deal |

looks like last year he only played 42 games and this year 6. 2013-14 looks like the only season he played a full year in the NHL at 73 games. Has to be a reason he can't stick - funmaster18
Off ice issues as reported. It's not a skill thing, more like behavior. I have a mutual friend of Kassian who mentioned the same problems going back to juniors. If he gets his attitude in check, he can play. |

I feel he would be an upgrade over White and Vandevelde on the 4th line. I like how guys like him and Maroon have good enough skill to play on top 6 lines if needed. - J35Bacher

I think a lot was the off ice stuff.
I think he would have been a good pick up and also he is young and can be a player to play a 4th line role as the team moves forward.

I think he needs to start taking then personally. We can reap the benefits until he gets caught, then void his contract.

So after next season or 78 games....whichever comes first - nastyflyergirl
It's indefensible for a professional hockey journalist like Seravalli to publicly state that a player who signed an ELC at 18 would lose their waiver exemption after just 80 games.
If it was just 80 games, Tampa would not have been able to demote Drouin to the AHL.
