It's sure looking that way.
Cracknell has been better than expected and Prust has been a major disappointment.

Cracknell will get sent down to help the Comets playoff push.

Wow....Edler played really well? Are you serious?? He was directly responsible for the vey own goal and the 4-3 go ahead goal as well. Big fat -3 he was on the night for a team worst plus minus. You've really got a unique way of critiqueing a hockey game.
- Bullfrog77

He was directly responsible for Vey putting in our net... ok, I don't see how that is possible. Was he directly responsible for the awful linechange too? Hmm, no not really. The fourth goal it was Tanev who got beat, I thought he had a good game too, personally.

It's clear to me when you refer to +/- that you don't know too much about stats, as that one is widely regarded as useless. Edler was a zero going into 3rd, made some good passes and played a good game. I don't think you watched, you're just looking to take a shot and checked the boxscore. It was the forwards who did the bad linechange and it was Vey who scored on his own net.

You pvr'd the game yes? Go back and watch it again. Edler shot that puck out and bounced it off vey s stick (like usual Edler was blocked) then watch the 4-3 goal where he stands beside his check (completely screening miller) not even making an attempt to clear the pen from the net. Isn't that defence 101? Don't screen you're goalie and don't let the other team stand in front of you're net? You're right plus minus can be flawed...but every night he's at the top of the minus list now isn't he?but sure he had a real good game....for pittsburgh

Your Edler hate is tedious and boring.
Edit: Vey scored on his own goal. Plain & simple.

Either way, I liked the fourth line today, lots of chances generated Virt is playing pretty well and seems to feed off of Dorsett's workethic. Zaleski has been ok, not much difference between him and Cracknell up the middle though both awful on Fo's. Could use a 4th liner that could win some faceoffs for sure.

Me too . If NHL did its job properly there would be no needs for John Scott's and Luc Gazdic.

It is much more fun to watch 4 lines of hockey. Yes, I said it

Gary Valk the other day said " the kids are starting to play with confidence" you can see that. JV is starting to show his speed , power and his shot more and more.

Vey had a hiccup today but still had a good 6 games.

Lines are starting to form . We can't staple someone's ass to the press box every time someone screws up.

slow it down and watch again. Edler's stick is well out of the way after trying to clear the puck. Vey has possession of the puck, before trying to clear the puck behind the net and inadvertently shoots it into his own net. If Vey hadn't been in the way Edler would have cleared the puck out of harms way. Who knows, maybe the D keeps it in, and fires a shot which finds the net anyway, but Vey clearly puts that puck into his own net.

Yes he does. It went in off his stick no question. After Edler slapped the puck into him...video shows it plain as day

I don't mind it either, but when it goes to the level that you're irrationally blaming everything on the guy, it gets a little intolerable IMO. That was a couple brutal team breakdowns, against a team where a player like Malkin is going to make you pay. Fluery stood on his head in the second to keep them in it and the kids made some mistakes. That's the story of the game, much more than Edler somehow banks it off Vey and in. Or somehow perpetuates a bad linechange and then screens the goalie. his last minus was on Crisby EN goal. He wasn't even on the ice for the 4-3 by Rust

Edler is an easy guy to dislike. He makes glaring costly mistakes.
I am getting to appreciate him more but it's hard.

We need him for now but who here doesn't want someone to come in and take over the 1&2 spot.

The day that Edler and Tanev are 3&4 should mean we have a very good team

I think the players reaction after the play says it all:

Edler - WTF?

Vey - Oh poop!

No question. Edler is a #2 guy at best and we need a 1 real bad. That being said, Sbisa has played well his first few games back, it's more team breakdowns at this point. The turnovers in the third were awful and Edler really wasn't the guy coughing up the puck.

Anybody got a 4K TV to watch the Leafs and Canadiens tonight? Unfortunately this new technology won't be able to save HNIC. This pregame is brutal.

The vey goal was a bad break all around. Edler should have shot it in the corner not try and slap it through the middle. The worse play was the 4-3 goal. I don't care how you spin it, there's no (frank)ing way he should be standing beside another teams player, completely screening you're goalie and not even attempt to push him out. He didn't even stick check the guy ! That's (frank)ing bad defence. Argue that if you can.
