Really sick to hear people cheering while he's face down.

A soft goal to me is one where a goalie should make a save and he doesnt.

That wasnt the case last night.. He made the save and when he went to paddle it in the heel of his stick hit the ice and caused him to miss the majority of the puck. The second time he corralled it, but because there was no defense, the player (Polak) had a free chance to poke the puck. It happened, it sucks, but I would not call it a soft goal. It was more of an unfortunate event.

That being said, had it not been for Mason, we lose that game by at least 4-5 goals.

Guys were turning over pucks to the opposition standing alone in the slot on more than one occasion and Mason erased those mistakes.

And if it doesn't include AHL stats we get to laugh.

Interesting note....Riley Cote apparently plays some pickup games around the LHV, which I think is hilarious

...and it counts as AHL experience

Since you asked, yes, there is. It confirmed my suspicion that you don't actually know what you're talking about in this case and I have elected to not spend the rest of the day arguing over what it is like to cover a puck and whether it was a soft goal.
- YuenglingJagr

I don't know how asking a stupid question on your part can confirm a suspicion that you have. There was no point in asking the question you asked, and it had zero to do with the play. What I know is how fast things happen in the NHL, and how fine of a line it is for an NHL goaltender between success and failure. When a forward or a defenseman makes a mistake or doesn't execute perfectly, there is often a teammate to back them up, and a lot of times that's a goaltender. When a goaltender has an issue like Mason did on that play, there is rarely a teammate there to bail him out. On occasion, an opposition player will dig for a puck and score a goal while a goaltender trying to freeze a puck. It happens. He needed a teammate to keep the opposition away from the net, he didn't get it.

You elected to make it about me, rather than the play.

I'd love to see that. TVR played some pickup roller hockey where I play the summer before he went to college.

I agree, we need to know what he's done at the NHL level, so we know what he's qualified to offer an opinion on.

Only clicked the link to see if you were kidding.

...then one-timed that patented slapper of his to beat Leafs goalie James Reimer through the five-hole at 12:59 of the third period.

You weren't.

That is just awful journalism right there. Awful.

It became about you when you elected to act like an expert on a subject you have no business acting like that on. You can say it was a team breakdown and most times with proper defense a player like Polak has no chance to stab at the puck like he did. That is all fine and dandy. You are so sure that Mason just got unlucky did nothing wrong on that play yet you really do not know what being in that situation is like. It was obvious to me so I wanted to make sure.

Mason should've used his stick to help him cover that without issue, at least that is what the youtube video said. It was a soft goal, but it probably stays out in most situations.

It became about me when you made it about me. I'm offering an opinion no different than what you're doing. There is a number of inaccuracies, in your post here. I never stated that Mason did nothing wrong in the discussion. In fact, I posted previously that Mason whiffed on the puck with his stick, trying to pull it in. I disagree that the goal should be labeled a soft goal.

Lastly, before we continue the discussion, I need to know what your qualifications are to offer an opinion on this. I need some references to confirm the qualifications you offer.

I have covered a puck before....and watched a video on youtube, saw bernie parent sitting in a cadillac at the mummers parade, and one time sat in section 108 at the WFC.

I didn't ask you the question to prove I know more about the subject. I asked because I know how debates with you go and I decided to avoid having you tell me what Mason could've or should've done the rest of the day so...
