I know.

I am just not a huge fan of his. He's ok. I am not in love like others are. I know all goalies give up softies. It happens. I just feel like when it happens to him it is at the most inopportune time for the team. They needed that puck covered. They weren't playing well but still had a lead.

What about all the big time saves he has made at the opportune times? Ignore that? It wasn't a softy. It was bad defense.

Lecavalier scored again last night?

Hilarious! Umberger is the corn in his poop.

- PLindbergh31

Awesome.

Now he can believe he can be a player and ruin LA's cap by wanting to play more seasons and not retire.

Who cares what he does in LA. Was he someone that was going to help the FLyers in the future. As much as this run this year is nice, the realistic view is what happens at the TDL and offseason and next year as they start to bring their skilled youth into the lineup.

Vinny wasn't going to be someone that was going to change the future for the Flyers.

You don't know this. You want to believe but we don't know this. LA simply has a better supporting cast.

I'd agree. Even with the new coach, they still play down to competition. Last night is only one game, and they have been playing well, but you can't routinely piss away points like that and expect to get into the dance. I want them to make it, just don't think they can when you know they will lose points like this for the rest of the year.
- Hextall271

I know it doesnt work like this...but if the Flyers are going to lose a certain amount of games for the rest of the season...technically it is better that they lose to the Leafs

Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but why didn't they take a timeout with 7 seconds left to get Giroux out there to take the draw?

Can't change players on an icing.

It was both a softy and bad defense. 99 times out of 100 that is covered though. Puck feels like a bar of soap sometimes and Mason dropped it

I'm glad the Flyers got rid of him. Don't get me wrong. I'd make that trade a million times to rid myself of that contract. I find it amusing he's playing well now, while Umberger continues to look like the last poop I took.

Not a softy to me. He was a millisecond from covering it.

I don't ignore the good saves. I believe if your an nhl goalie there are saves your supposed to make as an NHL goalie.

And it was a softy. That needed to be covered. At that time and with how the game was going that needed to be covered and not squeeked through the five hole.

Every goalie from Patrick Roy on down has goals scored on him that a goalie should save. He was a millisecond from getting his glove on it. Opposition defenseman shouldn't have a free path to the net unchecked. Lots of things needed to happen last night that didnt.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Vinny will continue to score every night, I expect a slump at some point. What I am saying, we didn't give him a fair shake. I think this vision the Flyers have, the system itself doesn't really improve players. The system almost seems fragile if you don't have the players to work within it. Maybe this is any system but we still have to make players work to our advantage.

Giroux is a bit off-piste.

Teams are watching video on the Flyers and bottling them up in the neutral zone and minding the gaps in a tight checking trap-esque game promotes frustration and a trend of Flyers players trying to do too much and play less of a team game.

Bill- You spend a lot of time around the team, do you know if RJ collects his paycheck with a ski mask and a pistol or does he just bring the pictures he is using to blackmail the front office and coaching staff? I'm thinking it is the blackmail materials as no one is afraid of RJ shooting. That dog needs to be scratched.

He has two hands...the paddle should've been shielding the puck or behind it to stop that play from happening. He was very close to pulling it in with the stick as well. That should be an easy play and it resulted in a goal...it was soft

No such thing in the pros. Bottom line - Philly didn't have a spot for him and what he brings. LA did. A trade ensued. Everyone is happy.

And I don't think the players on the ice were particularly tired, so a TO there would just have given Toronto more time to come up with a play.

No such thing as an easy play in the goal mouth with a lose puck and pressure coming down. He tried to pull it in with the stick and whiffed on it then went to cover it and polak jabbed it out from under his glove. He got no support on the play.

I agree that it was soft, but don't really buy into that goal ending up deciding the game or anything. Even if he saves that the Leafs probably continue to push until they get a goal. It was only a matter of time with how they were playing. The players in front of Mason lost the game. Maybe if he stops that they get to OT...who the heck really knows...but I don't think that getting through changed much in the overall result of the game

Brayden Schenn has be given every chance to succeed. Top 6 minutes. Top powerplay. I can't fault the team if he doesn't become a consistent player. I think they have given him ample chances to become a top 6 forward.

He's probably been given more chances compared to couturier's career where sometimes he is saddled with wingers that bring nothing sometimes.

- J35Bacher

It took us over 4 years to realize that Schenn is best suited at RW. Couturier is a nature shut down center who gets rope.

Yeah....it really wasn't anything other than just some well deserved poop luck. No TO didnt seem to matter much
