Only clicked the link to see if you were kidding.

...then one-timed that patented slapper of his to beat Leafs goalie James Reimer through the five-hole at 12:59 of the third period.

You weren't.

That is just awful journalism right there. Awful.

perhaps he'll blame it on poor site-lines from the press box. he told me this was an issue in an email reply years ago when i told him his description of a play was literally not in any way shape or form what happened.

To be fair, I did grow up playing rod hockey! And have played it recently for nostalgia's sake.

Did we talk about Torts healthy scratching Hartsy last night?
- Tomahawk

Just think he's healthy scratched Hartnell a few times, and Johansen before trading him. If Umberger was on C-Bus have to think Torts would slit his throat.

I know.

I am just not a huge fan of his. He's ok. I am not in love like others are. I know all goalies give up softies. It happens. I just feel like when it happens to him it is at the most inopportune time for the team. They needed that puck covered. They weren't playing well but still had a lead.

- J35Bacher

i would have liked to see mason just reach for it with his glove rather than coral it with his stick first, but it get why he did it, since the puck was on his stick side. he had no help, and i'm sure he didn't see the lone leaf right there as he was tracking the puck, which he was fortunate to stop to begin with. he clearly didn't track it into his pad and it just hit him. anyway, he should have support number one, and when it's 1-0 in the first period, it's not like you can say that was really an inopportune time to give up a goal.

i'm not the biggest mason fan in the world, but he's an excellent goalie. i am not putting that goal on him as a soft goal. he got beat by a stick jab. it happens.

A soft goal to me is one where a goalie should make a save and he doesnt.

That wasnt the case last night.. He made the save and when he went to paddle it in the heel of his stick hit the ice and caused him to miss the majority of the puck. The second time he corralled it, but because there was no defense, the player (Polak) had a free chance to poke the puck. It happened, it sucks, but I would not call it a soft goal. It was more of an unfortunate event.

That being said, had it not been for Mason, we lose that game by at least 4-5 goals.

Last night's loss was the most frustrated I've been in a while with the Flyers. We all had our realistic low-ish expectations of our team this year, but the way we've played in the past 2 months last night seemed we'd be fine. I think what frustrates me more is Ghost made a highlight reel play to tie the game, we had the momentum, we get a PP, and we lose. Just a serious of unfortunate events. Especially the fact that their GW goal hit MDZ knee, THEN post, then in. I was confident we'd win in OT too.

Side note, one play made me scratch my head a bit. Why was it solely a penalty for the Flyers when Bellemare ran into the Reimer ? I thought Reimer should have gotten a penalty for his excessive throwing of punches.

- arichardson22

he should have absolutely gotten a penalty. he was the only one throwing punches and he initiated the whole thing. the fact that bellemare got a goalie interference penalty tells me that referee should never officiate another nhl game again.

Weal said Couturier is 50/50 to play vs Pgh

Good to see Weal has gone from healthy scratch to GM!

I'm hoping next year they make the playoffs. They'll work a couple more D into the lineup and see what all the tiny little forwards we drafted have to offer.

The following year we can maybe look to win a round or two.
