I think in the third Morrow was on the first PP? I don't know if I agree with that either.
Should be Berg, March, Erik, Spoon, Krug. I don't know why it's been tampered with.
Second unit with Belesky Hayes Kempainnen Chara and Vatrano or Pasta.
Chara has the shot and the IQ to quarterback the PP. I don't think he is a bad choice on the 2nd unit - Videoj
Meh...Beleskey/Hayes/Kempainnen all have stone hands, I want guys who can stick handle on the PP. Sure, throw Hayes down low to fill the role Loui has on the top unit. After that, I want some combination of Pasta/Marchand/C.Miller/Morrow/Connolly. Maybe Chara, but I'd rather his minutes get cut back.

I agree, Chara is the weak link on the first PP unit, I'm guessing he's out there because if they put him on the 2nd unit, there'd be nobody to cover up his mistakes. Best answer I could come up with last night watching. The 2nd unit is not good.
I think 5 years at 6 million per year is fair. I think if he meets Boston at 5.5 Million, you do that deal all day long. He is so incredibly valuable in every aspect of the game. I really can't think of a trade that makes Boston better today AND tomorrow. And there's no point in trading Loui for a "rental" (though I don't consider Shattenkirk a rental) because without him, Boston isn't winning the cup this year. Either trade some prospects/picks for a rental and keep him, or trade him for more futures and write off this year. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
And anyone who thinks he isn't worth 6 million is a moron. Not many teams would pass him up at 5 years of 6 million. Hopefully he takes some sort of discount in good faith. 5 at 5.5 like I said, you do that deal all day long. No question.

Of coarse everyone would love to have him but it's a question if we can afford them all.
Krug is a RFA and will want a raise. $4.5-5.5 per.
Marchand is a UFA after next season and will be needing a hefty raise. $6.5-7 per.
Pasta will be a RFA after next season and if we look at Seguin, Hall, Yak type players then he will be at around $5.5-6 per.
And we still don't have a top pairing D-man......need to keep some money to maybe make a run at one.
The Canadian dollar is doing pretty crappy and with the economies sliding the way they are the cap is unlikely to move much.
It's also a question of how many mid to late 30' players you want to keep on the team as you eventually build to the future.
I would love Eriksson to stay a Bruin, but I don't want to see us return to cap jail and have to trade away all the talent we have over the last three years..........

I don't think Krug deserves that much. I know things will be tight, but Kelly's money + Lucic's money off the books takes care of the money for Erik and March's raises.
After next season we have 3 million of Chara's contract coming off the books which covers Pasta's raise (depending on his production).
And the following season, 8 million off the books from Chara and Seids.
I get what you're saying, but you know you're looking a bit too far ahead. Who knows what happens next season, let alone the following one. I think once the players and roles sort out a bit, the amount of players will thin out and we'll understand who will be important for the future. Connolly, Hayes, Vatrano, Pasta, Talbot, Rinaldo, Ferraro. Who will need to be paid? IDK
Bottom line I prefer keeping Erik and letting Krug or Marchand walk to pay for it.

Agree to disagree then.
I like Eriksson way better as an all around player than Marchand. Truthfully. Plus he seems to be more of the Bergy personality, which I love, humble and class.
But, losing krug or Marchand, both much younger, to keep him around seems to be the same viewpoint we have had on the past.
Would compare signing Eriksson to a contract like that ($6 per for 6yrs) to be like signing Sidenberg at 31 years old to a 4 yr $4 per contract.
Then trading Johnny Rocket.
Not saying you are wrong, but I am scarred from past experience and losing players due to it.
Ironically, Seidenberg, Kelly, and Peverly all had HUGE injuries since there career years here in Boston. All around the same age....... We signed all of them to extensions.........
