Might be a good idea to start developing McCann as a winger if we want to get him off the 4th line. He is too talented to be playing with those scrubs.

I'm giving Benning until Mid-july before I make my final judgment. He has had good points and bad. I'm not ready to say he is useless. He has brought on change thats what we all wanted.

He had done everything in his power to create the lineup that you want. Look at how many kids are playing up front and on D. And we are still in the thick of a playoff race. I'd say hes doing a pretty bang up job.

I am in his corner. What would turn me sour if he extended Vrbata and Hamhuis. He has been going forward as he promised. I couldn't see him stepping back from everything he is trying to do to sign those two

It was a good game and enjoyed the Canucks' play.

I think most teams outshoot the Canes' in overtime. Peters rarely plays 2 forwards.

Thats why I say after 1 more full season. Vey is a stop gap for the youth, always has been IMO. He was meant to hold the position until he became redundant, and unless the twins retire early, I don't see a spot for him in 2 years.
- Retinalz

Not unless they make him a winger. He doesn't have the body or game to be a third / fourth line guy

If he (Benning) continues down the path of draft and develop, without trading away any of our prospects like Horvat and McCann etc. he should be fine.

As you say, I think we all feel he's had some missteps and some good ones, I just hope he stops giving away cap space in contract deals (Sbisa/Sutter) and takes a broader picture when viewing where the franchise is now and its headed in the future. Not to mention overpaying with draft picks to get what he wants.

Gaunce Ahl needs more seasoning
Grenier Europe took a step back this year, trade bait
Friesen ahl looks good but there is a logjam on defence
Pedan nhl is his time to be the 7th d
Shink. Ahl see Gaunce, another year learning wont hurt him
McCann nhl

- Pres.cup

Yes. Gaunce and Shink need another year. Grenier isn't an upgrade on Prust or Dorsett. I don't want them to resign Prust but Dorsett needs to stay. Pedin will definitely be on the team next year.

I hear ya Lefty, but lately it looks more like JB gives away the draft pick to get RID of who he wants ...

McCann has huge upside. He will be a 1-2. Center...relax. You don't ruin great 19 yr old center prospects that make the nhl

Pedan should be playing the NHL now. He is a little rough around the edges but he would be a much needed big body that can skate.

He would lose me with this. I don't see him keeping Vrbata. The guy complained too much about line-mates and minutes. Hamhuis is a team guy I really think he would be good here if we moved Edler. If he is extended with Edler still here JB loses me.

I think it's more a necessity of the team he inherited, rather than a tendency.

As he's tried to move out garbage for value, he's had to throw in some pot sweetners.

Edit: Might have to bite the bullet and add draft picks to rid ourselves of Burrows as well.

I don't disagree completely with JB approach to slightly overpay and get a shorter term then we aren't stuck as bad if the player sh*ts the bed.

So much for all that optimism about shaking up the blue line.

Fedun has just been reassigned back to Utica.

Something to consider is buying out Burrows. 1.5 cap hit for two years. Not my money so it's easy to say. Hopefully he can be moved or they may just finish his contract.

He is useful but does no longer bring 4.5 value
