Matt Read was a little monster all game. He is working so hard every game. I didn't feel his scratch was deserved at all, but he's been even better of late. I'd love to see him with a more dependable linemate. Might as well try Weal just to see. It feels like he's carrying his line

Yeah, I'd like to see Umberger slide out for Weal, but as you said earlier he hasn't been a negative, just still not really a factor.

Laughton had a good game, like to see him build off it.

Flyers were the better team through the majority of the game, especially after the first. Nothing to be ashamed of about this one. Some ugly mistakes cost them, but they played well. The effort game in and out is a joy to watch.

Agreed. The Rags had been putting together a few periods of good play lately. I watched them a bit when they played the Isles this week. They aren't in the slump they were, and this was probably the best they played for 60 minutes in a while, and they still needed a soft goal to help get a point

Everytime I see Laughton play he screams winger. He never sets anyone up, isn't a passer, doesn't control the game excessively well on his stick, is defensively suspect, operates on speed and a quick shot. He just doesn't feel like a center ice man. He even doesn't use the center of the ice. Idk. Even ignoring his shoddy two way play, his offense just seems like a winger

He had two or three instances of good puck support in his own end today, and his play was pretty solid, especially early. He ended up with less TOI than White, so maybe it was situational, but I'd just like more ice time for him.

Hell, Weal or Raffl can play center and slide Laughton to a wing.

I think this idiot doesn't get it. We aren't sour grapes about it. As a rebuilding team, we care more about consistency and effort and performance. Flyers outplayed them. We aren't saying that angrily but almost happily. What a dipstick

I didn't mean to rip his play as being emblematic of today's game -- just in general. He was fine today. Even so, I feel like his center qualities are lacking. Read can play either side too to accommodate. Though I always see Laughts gravitate to the right side off wing in the play

When you're in a rebulid/retool with a team that still deals with inconsistent play from week to week, strides can be a very good thing. They've had a really good week, despite the goofy layoff. Now they have a bunch of games in a row, so hopefully they can keep it up and grind out some Ws

Exactly. Both teams played fairly well, as you said, with some mistakes you would like to see cleaned up

Yeah, I got ya. I agree, too. He's definitely looked like a guy who should be considered for use at wing, even if it's just because he's been so shaky in his own end at times.

EDIT: I think sheer minutes mean more than position right now for him

If they grind one out tomorrow, with Detroit resting tonight, I will say the P-word again

Because I think Hextall, while he will be smart, will try to help them if they are close and it is possible

My hope this season was to see them make strides and become a better team, especially at ES. It's been encouraging after that lull in November, and even in games they have lost they have competed.

They have work to do, but I want to see strides towards the goal. The Bruins game was a big stride. Today was a smaller one. But it's a step forward. That's what is important now

If the playoffs happen, it's an unexpected cherry on top of the sundae to me.

If that is the price for losing Vinny(last I looked at a -18 CF% in LA) then so be it

Weak af. Disappears in the playoffs, doesn't make teammates around him better, doesn't play well defensively. Lightning don't even use him on the last shift of their games when they're ahead. If he was here, you'd complain non-stop about him because he does nothing for the team when he's not scoring goals.

No worries -- at some point, they have to test drive him. Won't know what he is or isn't until you do

The Internet makes is so you can't even hope anymore, sometimes. I have concerns about his size for the line he will likely play on, but I do want to see what he does when he gets a shot

If Weal was deaf, dumb, blind, and quadriplegic it would still be a good trade. I just got myself excited about him because he could have some real potential looking at his skill set and past yearly performances at every level. I want him to be a real steal.
