Omg no repeats on colonel 'klink', he's too slow.
That hit on Bonino was harder than it looked on tv.

Just out of curiosity, you said you've never been to Carolina, if i remember correctly.. how on earth did ya become a Canes fan?

No team in Saskatchewan, so I had to pick one as a youngster.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders wear green. The Swift Current Broncos (closest team to where I grew up) wear blue and green. Geoff Sanderson was a Bronco. Whalers just made sense. Stuck with them after they moved (I was only 9 anyway).

Canes are on the up-swing for sure. Just curious... who started that rebuild?

Kinda how I picked my football team when I was about that age. Favorite color was green, looked around NFL Blitz on the '64 and found a green team. The Packers. I didn't even know how to play football then. Steelers were my second favorite team because the name Steelers and the emblem looked like gems (as in stealing the gems). I also have family in Pitt so that's another reason I like Pittsburgh teams. I would love for Wisconsin to get a hockey team someday.

I still have love for Ohio/Mich sports teams, but they suck anyway.

DK's site does a weekly report on WB.

Since people will speculate on him coming up, here's the latest on Sunqvist according to their WB writer.

Oskar Sundqvist, forward: Sundqvist, 21, is in his rookie season in the AHL and at times has struggled as any rookie could. It appears that the 6-foot-3 Swedish center forces plays a little too much and can perhaps be accused of being too ‘cute’ with the puck, but again, that can be said of most rookies. He has been centering team captain Tom Kostopoulos and Uher for the majority of the season. Sundqvist does see power-play time, but still has just five goals and 10 assists in 33 games. With just four assists in his last 10 games, the more consistent production that he had at the beginning of the season has dropped off somewhat. Sundqvist was a scratch over the weekend with an illness.

Well then I guess there we go. Probably more likely that Fehr and Cullen are split than Sundqvist coming up. Although I am at the point where I'd like to reward Simon for his standout AHL with three games on the big club while we have all of these injuries. Khnachle is garbage. I'd send him down and play Plotnikov, Rust, and Simon while we weather the injury storm.

Ron Francis with the buyout of Alexander Semin, trading Andrej Sekera, Jiri Tlusty, Jay Harrison...

Once Francis was named Assistant GM and Joe Nieuwendyk joined the team as a special advisor, drafting improved dramatically, especially in the second and 3rd rounds.

Once Francis was named full-time GM he hired Eric Tulsky, who has made an immediate and positive impact as well.

No time table for Bonino. Gotta imagine Sundqvist gets brought up now. This is a situation where I think it's appropriate to give Sunds a taste of the NHL

Agreed. I don't see Sund getting any time up this year. I'd like to see Simon up here while Bonino heals up as well.

Didn't Sund play winger overseas and switch to C last year or this year?

No timetable on Beau still right?

He's a natural C and converted over to winger (I assume right wing) over seas for an extended period of time and found success. Now he's a C again. In other words, he is projecting to be a versatile bottom six power forward. I have no qualms with this.

Yohe reported Beau is not close and Bonino could be a month or more. I guess Bonino broke his hand.

Man, Francis - what a guy, what a mind, what a class act. Absolutely loved him on the Pens. Kind of wished he would end up here in FO position. Well, not "kind of" ... REALLY.

Got it. Always good to have those kind of guys who can switch up like that. Maybe he would be a better call up if need be.

Yikes.

I'm amazed Dumo didn't break his hand after taking that shot to it, not even a finger. Looked pretty bad.

Same here. At least we would more than likely get to see DP. Still would rather have a healthy Dumo on the second pair rather than Cole moving to the second pair and DP on the bottom pairing.

Ranting come on man that's extreme. I call it rationalizing. Sundquist should come up but I still want to see these lines for a game or 2 and Tampa is a great place to try it out because they don't have any heavy hitters.
Simon Malkin Kessel
Hornquist Crosby Perron
Kunitz Fehr Rust
Wilson Sundqvist Cullen
Send the other guys back to WBS. At least this lineup is fast and forechecks well.
Give me
Maatta Letang
Dumoulin Daley
Pouliot Cole or Clendenning
And I'm even happier.

Funny how so much of the improvement has come since he has been out of the lineup.
