We all knew Kunitz was showing his age, but I don't get Perron, Kessel and Hornqvist. Crosby slumped through the first two months, but he's been almost completely back to form under the new coach.
To me the season comes down to Perron, Kessel and Hornqvist literally butchering grade A scoring chances all season. Those 3 players have let the team down. - madmike71
Is the lack of scoring all that is bothering you about Kessel? What about lack of forcheck / backcheck. I know that isnt part of his game (which is why I was happy to see him gone) but if he isn't scoring, he should be doing something else to make up for it. - domi_legend
Listen, Kessel is doing great for his age! He is more youthful at his 42 than, say, Chelios was.
Has he really improved defensively? The stats tend to disagree. Do you think he's an overall benefit to your team, even if he only gets 20 goals? IMO, if he doesn't get at the very least 30 goals, he's hurting your team because his overall game is weak and lazy. - domi_legend
Maybe he's not the strongest guy on the boards, but I haven't seen the lazy part. He was brought here to score goals and he's certainly struggling to do that. So yes, he's killing us in that regard. Same with Perron. Same with Hornqvist. If each of those guys had 5 more goals each, we'd be comfortably sitting behind Washington.

He is not Scott Stevens when it comes to hitting nor will he be confused for Pavel Datsyuk, we were lead to believe he didn't even try to play defense but he works hard on the forecheck and is good positionally in his own zone.
Offensively he has been a disappointment, no question. He has had his chances but really not buried anything all year.
He is not hurting our team, but he is not the savior we were hoping for either. He is soft but we are a soft team; I disagree with the lazy statement.

With all of the reports, I'm surprised at his commitment in backchecking. He's broken up several odd man breaks this year. Defensively, I think he's been......frankly....pretty good.
The Pens needed him to do one thing. Convert scoring chances. He isn't. This team is near the bottom of the league in goals and it's killing them.

He could pick it up. He's known for being streaky. Like 9 goals in the next 5 games. Thing is he only has 19 goals in 81 games in the 2015 calendar year. That's troubling. Weren't you guys saying he's in the best shape of his life coming into this season? Maybe he's just been very unlucky?

I wasn't kidding when I said I couldn't count how many open nets he missed from inside five feet.

His turnover ratio is quite troubling as well. - domi_legend
I thought the trade was terrible at the time and its not turning out. He was invisible with Crosby, and has since disappeared with Malkin. He wasnt the type of player needed for this team and the Pens paid way too much for what he brings. Id trade him at the draft at possible.

Trolly troll troll.
Why not watch a game? He does back check. He's a little weak on the boards but he still tries. My main problem is the missed open cages, posts and broken sticks right before almost guaranteed goals. If he scored on half of those he'd be around 25 goals now.
Domoulin, Pouliot, Maatta > Harrington....and this is why the Leafs have Harrington.

He missed a wide open net in Carolina the other night that Craig Adams would have buried. That's not unlucky. If he goes on a streak, I think the Pens go on a streak. That's how close this team is to turning things around.

he also has no one-timer shot whatsoever. But everyone knew that before he came in, right? RIGHT??

Marta has been getting pretty exposed this year. Slow.
Who is Domoulin?
And yeah you have a point with Pouliot...although shouldn't he have a spot in the lineup by now?

They didn't pay too much. It can be argued whether he was a good fit, but the package the Pens gave up was pretty cheap IMO. Hell, even the pick is lottery protected.

Dumoulin* f'd up a vowel. I obviously dont know anything about the Pens players because of this.
