FWIW:

On the Philadelphia Flyers …
•John Boruk: Flyers GM Ron Hextall has targeted the 2017-18 season since he made the Scott Hartnell trade. The Flyers only have $28 million committed for 2017-18, and that will be the year he leaves him imprint.

Just based off the topic we were discussing yesterday about when Hextall should be making a play for a big FA.

Looked at Fa list for 2017 and not really great choices. Some names but they are older guys like Datsyuk. Jamie Benn, Brad Marchand and Victor Hedman would be interesting guys but Benn and Hedman I can't see hitting the market.

If Stamkos hits the market I think I would take a chance.

so you would take a chance this off season on Stamkos if he some how hits the market?

it's so (frank)ing stupid.

Meh -- no arguments means this turns into the Panthers blog, and people who argue about other stuff when they feel like it will miss out on the chance to pass judgment on the stuff they aren't arguing about that day

No because it will likely be 7 years and 75-80 million to get him.

Too often, both Jake and Simmer were both on the right side. One of them has to realize that someone needs to play LW for the line to work.

i know jake has potted some points after switching sides, but i don' see a ton of chemistry yet. it might come, but so far, i don't love that group.

fortunately they're getting points from 2nd unit and the D. you need that balance. yes, i'm captain obvious.

Fascinating game tonight between Colorado and Nashville

Nashville is in danger of missing the playoffs, Rinne has a .907 SVPCT and is 32 years old, Weber is not getting any younger

David Poile has to be wondering if it's now or never

i have never been a rinne fan. that's just me. not blaming him for his numbers. i haven't watched them play all year.

I've watched them a couple times, but not enough to hazard a guess as to why his numbers are down

i love the arguments. i'm always amazed at the random, disconnected to the present obscurity that shows up here on a daily basis.

i'm not a fan of the huge goalies. i think there's a fine line on size being a hindrance. he straddles that line in my opinion. he's talented for sure, but not a guy i covet or would be giddy about if we had on our roster. i also think he's come up small in the playoffs.

sorry, I was trading Schenn and Morin to Tampa for Drouin and Stralman. Sign and signing Stamkos.

Preface to comment: I wouldn't do it.

Would the Flyers be willing to move a defensive prospect for Drouin?

It is pretty random -- if someone told me when I woke up this a.m. that I would be slapfighting about Nick Schultz, Nicklas Grossmann and Chris Pronger's payout, I would have laughed and rolled over
