And I figured that.

I think they have about 23 games until the TDL. I would like to see him play a lot of those. I know not a huge sample but I want to see if there is anything there that can project to an NHL role and maybe allow me to make a deal to keep reshaping the roster.

While I am not against him playing a lot, I think we do need to remember that this is not a new player to Hextall.

why not? he's not a good head coach but he can do the defense
who do you bring as the defensive coordinator and/or the head coach since it seems sean peyton is staying in NO

I think they want him to get in a few practices with the team first, before playing him.
- MJL

Yup, makes sense. Looking at the upcoming schedule, there are some gaps for practice. I would think he'll be in the lineup next Weds or Saturday.

Really hoping the last game of the season against the Pens has playoff implications for one or both teams.

I don't think Rob has had highly ranked defenses through his career.

It's possible he's better as a position coach/functional alcoholic on a coaching staff and gets coordinator jobs based off of his last name.

They've been ranked pretty poorly, actually, aside from one or two exceptions

Nope, but Weal never played in the NHL level while Hexy was in LA. At the very least, he's an unknown we can look forward to seeing. And Hexy either targeted the kid or took him because that's the best he could get.

Rob has always kind of been in the middle of the pack with his defenses minus the aberration that the saints were in general

Yes.

But you still need to see him playing and see if you can project him in an NHL roll.

I would have been happy with just a 3rd in that deal. The fact that we got a young kid on expiring RFA deal is just a bonus.

Rob sucks and he looks like Kenny Powers

Rex is a very good DC but he's not moving back to that position for a years to come....strictly on merit, I take Rex as a DC
