I might be looking past this season but I'd be ok with the Pens moving Perron, Kunitz and Cole and just brining in their young guys for a run. Give Sheary, Simon, Sprong and Pouliot a chance to get some top 9 ice time in this offense first system and see what they can do. I'll take Sprong shooting the puck on Crosby's wing over Perron or Kunitz right now. - MacPatty
I don't think Simon or Sprong are ready for the NHL, Sheary looked good at the beginning, but has faded to nothing lately.. Soooo I'll pass on those guys. Cole is awful. Carries no value, probably can't be traded at this point. Perron is doing everything well but scoring. Kunitz hasn't been terrible lately, at least he's hitting everything that moves.. just can't find the back of the net. I'd rather let the kids develop where they should be and not (frank) up their development by throwing them in the Pens lineup. |

Perron is just not that good.
Kunitz is old.
Kessel is fat and good for about 1 quick rush a shift.
Meanwhile Kap scores the GW goal for Finland. - sammy87

There he is!!!
Kap has also been invisible in a lot of world junior games so there's also that, but keep grasping at straws. |

Sprong is an extremely promising prospect but he was simply just not quite NHL caliber yet this season. This idea that he'd suddenly become a top 6 winger if put on Sidney Crosby's right baffles me. Let the kid develop.
However, when it comes to Kunitz, yes he's a better option than a lot of other guys, but not by too much. I still see him as expendable and easily replaceable and we should still part with him and his contract somehow by this offseason. |

Basically, he's sort of like a cross between a young Letang and a young GoGo. Faster and better with the puck that GoGo, not Letang-esque though defensively. - jmatchett383
The kid has a cannon too, and isn't afraid to pull the trigger. I especially like how mobile he is on the PP from the highlights I just watched. |

Oh don't misunderstand me I wasn't saying Kunitz is good.. but at this point he is a better option than Sprong or Simon IMO. I'd love to ship him off, but 1. who are they gonna replace him with, and 2. no one wants him. It's just the reality of it. |

Kasperi Kapanen is the Finnish Max Talbot, without the most awesome commercial in history and without appearing on a cereal box along with Hines Ward. |

Yeah, he can really fire it, especially for a guy his size. Like I said, no way he was going to the ASG, but he's a treat to watch at 3v3. He's so smooth that he makes everything look easy. |

I remember when the Penguins won the Stanley Cup in 2009 in Detroit there was a little girl, maybe 8 years old. She was wearing a tiny Johan Franzen jersey, red ribbons braided into her hair. Game 7 was over and she was sobbing into a stuffed Octopus. She broke my heart. I felt like that in 1993, aged 9. I would like to imagine now that she is enjoying the revamped Wings and is hopeful for the future of the team, just as I was for the Penguins c. 2007.
The NHL All Star Game is for those 8 and 9 year old fans, when the game is still magic. When the game can be your first love. I turn your attention to 2001 when Mr. Lemieux returned and played in Colorado. It was magic, and we all celebrated. - Johnny Wrath
Im not disagreeing with you on why it exists. Im just saying that, from a voting standpoint, as soon as they gave control over to the public it became a popularity contest rather than an actual all star game. |

No number designation can contain Max Talbot. He simply takes to the ice as he pleases and impregnates several women in the stands simply by making eye contact. |

We'd have options. I see no downside to giving Simon a three game stint with Malkin and Kessel as a reward for his good play in the AHL. Even if he's not particularly good, giving him a taste would keep him hungry and give him a better idea of what he needs to work on. We could keep Cullen there. We could give Bonino a look. We could slot Bennett in there if he's healthy. Fact is, I'm only slightly if at all less confident that one of those options would work than Kunitz working if he were to be traded, so if a trade comes up in not hesitating.
This all assumes Perron-Crosby-Hornqvist gets reunited, of course. |

The skills competition is decently entertaining. The game itself isnt worth watching, imo. - YouMeAndDupuis9
I agree with this 100%. And even then the only one that really gets my interest is hardest shot. The skills they can display on some of the others are pretty awesome though. |

He doesn't need to pay child support. He just tells the women that he's Max Talbot and they agree that he's right and fell blessed to be carrying such a worthy child. |

Not really much at all when I read through the first three pages... just a couple "didn't deserve it till now" mumbles.
Guess the All Star game really doesn't mean poop anymore - Guile
Once they made it so every team had to have a representative, then opened it to public voting it became a farce. Not that it was ever very important to begin with.
Im personally happy to see Sid getting the rest. I hope Geno and Tanger opt out. Pens should be able to let their players rest after the injuries we have had the last few years. Send Lovejob and let him represent us. |

Glad to see youre still around! Someone said something about you getting banned the other day and I couldnt figure out why. If grumpy got people banned, half our posters would have been gone this year, myself included.
That being said, youre nuts! Did you see the 3 on 3 OT last night? Kessel worked his ass off. |

I wonder how many web hits they can say they got from the voting. Can't wait until they turn it over to SAP and it gets mangled into "The Pro Star Match between the Western League Metro and the New England Habituals." |
