He was also leading your team in Pts/60 5v5 just a few weeks ago. He's not hit his potential yet, but he is absolutely deserving of an NHL spot
- lumlums

He is actually 4th on the team this season in points per 60 and last year probably 6th or so.

I'd happily swap Pouliot for him, and I'm a huge Derek Pouliot fan. Both have good advanced stats, both have some time in the NHL. Both were/are highly touted prospects. DP will be a top great PP quarterback sooner than later.
- cranktheradio

I'd take Pouliot for him, Bolts have some great D prospects but can never have too many especially with Coburn leaving, Sustr being Sustr and the Unknown Hedman contract.

The Leafs should be in on this for sure, whether Y wants to move him to Toronto or not is anyone's guess but he's exactly what the Leafs are looking for
- obie

Agreed. I keep Nylander and Marner off the table given that the Bolts are against a wall somewhat, but with a guy like Kapanen packaged with a first for instance, would be able to put forward a reasonable offer.

Yeah, with Hedman/Stralman and Koekkoek/Poulliot waiting, the Bolts defensive situation would be solid.

Hey can someone explain the type of player drouin is? Also can any tampa fans give there opinion whether its drouin not playing well or the coach mis using him? Lastly is he worth a big return from another team? Like has he gone from blue chip prospect to NHL ready top 9 to warrant a big return?

Thanks for the help guys you can tell i dont know anything about him

Well point in time a lot of people do well, that doesn't make you a great talent. I like his hands, they are filthy but I've watched him since he has come to Tampa and he sacres me more than excites me. Now would I rather him playing vs Jonathan M (can't spell that name) yes I would but they are playing different lines and you just can't make the dumb mistakes over and over again like Drouin does.

My opinion is he has very good speed and amazing hands. He seems to not see the game well or the game just moves slightly too fast for him because he makes a lot of mistakes. He can't be trusted in big games or situations. I don't think the coach is helping him all that much even though Drouin started the year on the first line and Killorn, who played well in the playoffs on the top line, started on the 3rd line. Drouin would turn the puck over far too much to keep his spot then he got injured.

Top 9, sure he can skate and handle the puck. He was drafted 3rd overall so he was drafted to not be top 9 or even top 6 but top 3. He is not top 3 right now. He is still cheap and very young so he can get a return but I highly doubt big return or I think we would have seen Yzerman pull the trigger already. All are just my opinion of course, I've seen him the past two years pretty much every game.

They would most likely want Lamorello to take on one of the overpriced D they have also... Carle or Garrison maybe?

I may be the odd man out here but I like Callahan. He brings a lot to that team, no he isn't a 70 point guy but he works hard, goes into the corners hard, takes a total beating in front of the net and we have nobody else to do that. I like him wearing the Bolts sweater. Johnson on the other hand, our small window to get another steal in a trade has passed us by.

I've always liked Callahan, a bit pricey but effective none the less

I'd do that also, though it would make the deal more complicated. They both have only 2 years left on the contract, so it's not too awful.

Callahan is a solid guy, good guy to have on the team. If he was at ~$4m per then nobody would bat an eyelid.

Might see Stamkos and Drouin on the Leafs top line next October

He is in the same range as Stepan, Dubinsky, Dustin Brown. Callahan was getting more than $4m when he hit the market so we can't say only $4m for him. $5.8m doesn't buy you what it used to.

Oh man... a top six including both plus Nylander, Marner, JvR and another (Timashov? Someone else?) would be quite lovely

It's true.... And it's funny because I'd say that all (apart from maybe Stepan?) are overpaid there.

You expect both Nylander and Marner to be on the Leafs next season? And even if they were , 3 guys on that top 6 have zero NHL games played and Drouin has very little so, I wouldn't expect them to be too successful for awhile

Stepans best season was around 57 points. Callahan had 54 last year. Seems that mid 50 point guys get the $5m-$6m contracts.
