Agreed. If it was Simmonds + Hagg + 2nd. Or a variation. I don't want the first given up. No way. Not when it could be so high

I wouldn't give them both Haag and a 2nd.

TB has about $2 million in cap room. Whoever trades for Drouin will have to get creative on the $$ side of the equation if they are sending substantial contracts that way.

There's no doubt that he has talent, he was a high draft pick. That's not a guarantee of anything.
- MJL

What about his efficient offensive production at the NHL level?

I think that's fair....Flyers should kick tires or sure....just remember prospects aren't exact science....Both Schenn's and Gagne were all top 6 guys....I think it will be a prospect deal not a guy like Simmonds if it happens at all.

Well, you very well could be right. That deal could wind up a steal. It could also wind up a bad deal. I'm more inclined to keeping a player like Simmonds, and drafting and developing the teams prospects, and using it's draft picks.

Yzerman more or less blows off Drouin's request for a trade. Now we all wait to see if he reports to Syracuse.

Wouldn't expect anything else. Value is at a low. He has to be PISSED at the agent. And the team doesn't have to trade him for the forseeable future. Pretty much any GM would blow it off publicly.

He has 3 options report to Syracuse, go to Europe, or just retire.

LOL, the Amac comment is senseless. Drouin scored 4 goals in 70 games last season. His assist totals were good. He had 8 points in 19 games, this season including 2 goals. Obviously, the team feels he needs more development, and some playing time. He missed some time with injury. If he currently was efficiently scoring, they would not have demoted him.

See, this is where it devolves into stupid

Does anybody think that Drouin is gonna play 1000 games in Tampa and get his jersey retired?

It's silly. Everyone knows they are going to trade him. It doesn't have to be today, tomorrow, this season. But you are going to trade him, and his value isn't going up or down based on this stint in the minors

We'll see. If I was Yzerman, I'd let Drouin play in the AHL for a while, get his game back and he probably will dominate, and then call him back up after a period of time, and see how he plays, then reevaluate. Unless I was completely blown away by an offer, I'd hold tight, to make sure I knew what I had.

He's put up 2 points in the last 14 games. His efficient NHL scoring, is currently not there.

Sample size. Over his career to date, his points/60 is solid, especially for a player of his age.

NHL GM's don't make decisions based on past stats. In Drouin's case, the GM is doing what he feels is best for the player and the TB Lightning. He had an injury, and missed a bunch of games.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest most of them prefer larger sample sizes that don't go back too far. I don't believe including his production last year is a mistake.

It's not about his past production. It's about his current level of play and production. He needs playing time.
